Apple Watch owners will be rewarded with a special achievement medal for completing the New Year Challenge. Users will have four attempts to complete the challenge, which starts on January 2 and runs through to the end of the month.

Apple began issuing New Year Challenge notifications to Apple Watch owners today, December 28. To complete it and secure your special medal, you simply have to fill all three activity rings each day for a full week, Monday to Sunday.

That means you’ll need to move for around one minute every 12 hours, exercise for at least 30 minutes a day, and reach your personal goal for burnt calories.

“Bear in mind the notification to take part will appear 10 minutes after the first time you put your Apple Watch on, and will only appear once, so if you dismiss it or decline, you won’t be able to take part in the challenge,” explains Pocket-lint.

The challenge runs through January, so you’ll have four weeks, or four attempts, to complete it. If you need a little more time to recover from your New Year’s Eve party, then, you won’t miss out if you’re not ready to start on January 2.

Those who complete the challenge will be rewarded with a special achievement badge in the Activity app, and stickers they’ll be able to send friends in iMessage. Those who fail miserably, as I will, get nothing.

Good luck!
