Apple’s next iPhone will feature an all-glass back, according to the latest rumor out of Asia that also claims the 2017 iPhone will come in three different sizes, with one that’s in between the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Apple is expected to bring some big design changes to the iPhone in 2017, including a departure from aluminum rear casings in favor of glass backs made by China’s Biel Crystal Manufactory and Lens Technology, reports the Nikkei Asian Review.

Ditching metal for glass

[contextly_auto_sidebar] “Apple has tentatively decided that all the 5.5-inch, 5-inch and 4.7-inch models will have glass backs, departing from metal casings adopted by current iPhones, and Biel and Lens are likely to be providing all the glass backs for the new iPhones next year,” the source said.

Bringing a new size into the iPhone mix would be an interesting addition from Apple. It’s unclear if that means Apple will kill off the 4-inch iPhone SE size in favor of a bigger lineup.

The new all-glass iPhone will supposedly feature a metal band in the middle that holds the front and glass back pieces together. That sounds a lot like Xiaomi’s Mi MX concept phone that features super-thin bezels.

Apple will allegedly add a curved OLED screen to the 5.5-inch iPhone next year, but the smaller sizes will have the same LCD displays on the iPhone 7. Other features could include wireless charging, improved cameras, a Touch ID scanner behind the display and more.
