Emoji have rapidly changed the way we conversate in the digital age and now thanks to a new feature in iOS, they’re about to change the way we search too.
iPhone and iPad users can now use emoji as search terms in the iOS spotlight feature that’s accessible on any home screen by swiping down.
The feature is actually super-useful, though it doesn’t work with all emoji. Looking for a place to have a beer with a buddy? All you have to do is tap the beer emoji icon and Spotlight will bring up suggestions for drinking holes that you can open in Apple Maps.
Here are some of the emoji you can use for search:
Beers

Dress and other clothing

Family

Graduation cap for education

Save that money

Package = Post Office

Pizza

Tacos

Tickets for movies and other entertainment

Transit stops

Trees = Parks

Mushrooms for Mario

That last one is my favorite because I don’t think anyone that uses the mushroom emoji means it as a power up. Have you found some other funny ones we failed to mention? Drop your suggestion in the comments and we’ll add it to the list.

Apple emoji shows Apple stores
“conversate?” Really? How about converse?
I got stuck on that as well… :-(
This is an awesome feature I didn’t know existed and still probably won’t use but I enjoyed learning about it
Didn’t work in Switzerland
Not in Sweden either. think it is a US thing (as fucking usual)
So weird considering Apple is a fucking US company.
So extraordinary weird when Apple is present all over the globe.
Americans tend to see the world as “US and those others”.
Neither in Germany. Maybe they have to “translate” the Emoji first. ^^
Works in the UK
