iPhone Beats Android 2-to-1 in North America

iPhone Beats Android 2-to-1 in North AmericaAs the old saying goes, statistics can be made to say anything. Particularly when it comes to the increasingly-heated rivalry between Apple and Google. Half of all visits to mobile websites are done via the iPhone, ad network Chitika just announced.

The numbers come just days after Admob released figures in late April indicating smartphones running Google’s Android operating system outpacing iPhone OS-based phones. Does that fact Admob is owned by Google make any difference? Possibly, say some observers.

Admob counts OS applications used by either Android or the iPhone. “AdMob has recently been having a lot of success in Android apps, combined with more competition for iPhone apps,” notes Silicon Alley Insider. What makes Chitika’s numbers different is that they count mobile website access, no matter the OS found on the visitor’s phone.

Also in favor of the latest iPhone versus Android numbers is their closeness to those from comScore, which found the iPhone had 25 percent of the smartphone market, versus 5.2 percent for Android.

The significance of those statistics is the 12% increase in Android market share since January, not the 2-to-1 iphone beats android OMGZ.

Anyone else annoyed by the horribly inaccurate bar graphs? In particular, the bar that’s supposed to show a 35.9% market share is only about 25% tall. Whoever made these charts should be forced to repeat the 7th grade.

And shame on Ed Sutherland for putting it front and center in the article. Have you no interest in truthfulness?

You Apple-haters are the reason why there will always be legions of entrenched loyalists to Apple. The more you assail them for their free choice of being Apple consumers, the more DEFENSIVE they get about their decision to “go with Apple”. It is human nature. That’s simply how human psychology works.

Hilarious. Hitler was good at psychology. He was a free thinker to some. He got loads of obsessive fanboys. I can see a pattern here.
