If you want to hear who this year’s MTV Video Music Awards nominees are, you’ll hear it on Apple Music’s Beats 1 channel first. Even before you’ll hear it on MTV!
Today, Apple announced on the official Beats 1 Twitter account that Apple Music would be the first to announce the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards nominees:

According to the announcement, the nominees will be revealed during the Beats 1 “Charts” show on Apple music at 10am Eastern / 7am Pacific, hosted by Brooke Reece and Travis Mills. Then, an hour later, you will be able to visit vma.mtv.com and vote on the official winners.
MTV confirmed the news through their official Instagram, as well as their website.
Quite a coup for Apple. Since when does one broadcaster announce the nominees for their own awards on another broadcaster’s channel?
But I guess when you’re Apple, everything’s negotiable.
