It’s hard to say whether one man’s eBay page indicates he’s bitter about his divorce or has taken the division of property too literally.
A German man used saws to divide possessions shared with his estrange wife, giving her half and selling his half on eBay.
Everything, from an iPhone and MacBook Pro to dining room chairs, the mailbox, a teddy bear and their car, was subject to his interpretation of splitting things 50-50.

So far, the Apple products have received the highest number of bids. The half iPhone 5 has seven bids with the price up to 6 Euros. The MacBook Pro has six bids at 8.27 Euros. There are three bids on the half car at 2.50, one bid on the half bicycle at 1 and one bid on the a vinyl album, REM’s Automatic for the People, at 1.

The story, appearing on Reddit, attracted a still-growing stream of comments.
One person wrote, “I’m so glad me and my ex weren’t assholes to each other during our divorce.” Another wrote, “said she wants half of everything. Be careful what you ask for.”
We are unclear if this is some sort of stunt or if the seller is seriously going through Splitzville.
Either way, the YouTube video posted with the items is both fun and painful to watch.

Click bait and I fell for it.
OK, I’m a divorce lawyer and I can tell you what would happen if this ended up in court here. “Sir, those items you sawed in half are now yours—both halves. And you know that 401(k) you thought was half yours? That goes to your wife. Now things are even. Best of luck to you.” That’s why it’s called “contempt of court” instead of “contempt of other party.” This douche bag was trying to make it impossible for the court to make a fair division and the court takes that shit personally. I would be surprised if German courts didn’t feel the same way. Now I wonder why his wife is dumping him? I’m sure he was just a great guy to be around until his wife served him divorce papers “with no warning; no warning at all, man. She must be sleeping around.”
401k? HAHAHAA! This is Germany we’re talking about; retirement pension is guaranteed to every taxpayer in the country, there are no “halves.” Just like free medical care, and over a month worth of paid vacation per year the day you’re hired (plus holidays).
Gotta love the good ol’ US of A and our contemptible courts.
There have been people here who have burned down or sawed in half mobile homes rather than giving up half to their ex-spouses. Others have sunk yachts or sold luxury cars for $1.
P.S. It’s not in your best interests to admit to being a soulless, blood-sucking lawyer, then proceeding to call people you don’t know “douchebags,” it makes you look like an ass (to state nothing of your grammatical and punctuation errors).
Sorry, I have to say that it’s (using your own word) “douche bag” lawyers that cause people to do things like this. Not one of them are in the business to help anyone but themselves. They will squeeze their own client’s throat with one hand and screw the other party with the other hand – all the while laughing to the bank.
I love the fact that you use terms like “fair decision”. Fair for who? Defending the wife and saying she isn’t being treated “fairly” immediately says that you think the husband shouldn’t be treated with the same “fairness”. Fairness is a concept that we, as a human population, need to get over. In the words of William Golden in The Princess Bride – “Life isn’t fair, it’s just fairer than death, that’s all.”
I also hope that you don’t use that kind of language in court.
When you have to trash the entire concept of fairness to express your point, you are the idiot.
Name calling – the last refuse of those who cannot logically disprove an opposing point of view. Nice.
For the record, I’d rather be an idiot than a lawyer.
Great answer. What a total idiot.
