Apple Watch pre-orders just went online, but if you’d like to go try-on Jony Ive’s amazing timepiece before you buy it, you can now schedule a one-on-one appointment to go through the different models.
Apple Stores have been outfitted with new viewing tables and demo stations for the pre-order launch. Reservations only last 15 minutes, (unless you’re buying the Apple Watch Edition), but that should be enough time to find the right case and band combo to match your style. Some readers overseas have sent us pictures of their Apple Watch try-on sessions.
Take a look at the store makeover:
Huge Apple Watch signage greets shoppers
An array of Apple Watch cases and bands sit behind a glass wall running a demo video.
Hands-on area where you can play with features and apps.
You can’t actually try on the working Apple Watches. They’re tethered to the table.

“Most personal device we’ve ever created” yet you can’t try it on. Kinda defeats the whole wearble thing.
You can try them on they just don’t let people try on live ones because they would disappear.
Maybe I’m stupid. It’s early and I’ve had a few drinks, but the overseas videos showed people putting on watches. When I go in for my appointment today can you confirm that I’ll actually be able to try them on to feel the weight on my wrist and see watch itself looks on me? I don’t want to play with it. I don’t care if it’s a demo. I just need to see how it fits and looks. Will I be able to do that?
Yes, you can, but its in “demo mode”, which means it won’t work as well as the watch you would have shipped would. There are also Apple Store employees there for any questions you have about the wearable. I’d recommend getting an appointment, though. You might wait awhile if you’re going to just walk in. I just came from my try on appointment, so that’s how I know.
Thanks Christine. My appointment went pretty well. I’m glad I didn’t buy the first strap I wanted cause it didn’t look especially fantastic on my wrist.
