Crowd-sourced navigation app Waze has got a neat little idea for this coming Easter: little eggs you can drive over while using the app for points (three per egg!) and bragging rights.
So, as you drive down the street, headed to the grocery or picking up the kids, you can maximize your route to get as many egg points as possible.
This fun little promotion is happening now (it started last week) and will last through April 5.

The entire Waze map will fill up with Easter egg goodies. If you want to see your score, simply tap Menu, then tap My Waze, and then tap Scoreboard. Want to turn them off? Egg getting in the way of safe navigation? Turn them off with a trip to Settings, Display Settings, Show On Map, and then toggle Road Goodies to OFF.
Simple, easy, fun. We love it.
If you don’t already have Waze, maybe now is the time to grab it (it’s free!) for your own iPhone or Andriod smartphone.

Also for Windows. Love Waze. It’s accurate and informative. Consistently routes me the best way into NYC. Only complaint is on the Saw Mill Parkway. Every 30 seconds it’s telling me, “pot hole in 800 feet.” Of course there is – it’s the freakin’ Saw Mill. The whole thing is one long pot hole!
How about they update the app for iOS 8 (so it doesn’t constantly hog the GPS & kill battery life) & iPhone 6/6+ first (it still looks bad with an evident upscaling to the new resolutions?
Until then, the app is uninstalled.
So what youre saying is that ever since Google bought Waze it hasn’t been updated?
What a co-ink-ey-dink!
Did you hear Google anywhere in my post? If yes please show it to me.
What I’m saying is that they haven’t updated it with proper iOS 8 support or iPhone 6/6+ support since those 2 things have been out. You came to your own conclusions.
Oh yeah, waiting for the first accident with injuries where the driver says he was distracted trying to pile up easter eggs and the lawsuit is then filed against Waze.
Never used Waze, huh?
Never said that the easter eggs have to actually cause an accident. But enterprising lawyers will find a way to capitalize. I am amazed that Waze’s lawyers signed off on this. Or maybe they weren’t asked.
Who will be most interested in this feature? The age group that is already famous for distracted driving. Way to go!
Another ill-conceived product idea by the people who brought us those creepy stalker specs.
The easter eggs are automatic things you drive over to “collect”. It’s not a “tap the screen when you find eggs, and risk a crash” game; Waze developers aren’t stupid.
