Apple redesigned the LED backlights for the new MacBook keyboard, and it appears a similar update could be coming soon to the Apple Wireless Keyboard.
Several images of an updated keyboard appeared on the online Apple Store for the Czech Republic as well as an Arabic keyboard in the U.S. store. Some of the images of the keyboard have already been pulled, but the redesign adds toggles for brightness to the F5 and F6 keys, as well as a power button on in the upper right corner.
The current Apple Wireless Keyboard features an eject button in the upper right corner, even though the iMac no longer sports a CD drive. Product descriptions for the keyboards weren’t updated in the stores, so it could be that someone uploaded the wrong graphics in the backend, with the public release slated for later.
A quiet rollout could also be in the works for the minor update. Apple made several keyboard improvements with the radical redesign of the MacBook, including butterfly hinges and individual LED illumination for each key. Apple’s next big announcements aren’t expected to take place until June at the Worldwide Developers Conference, but it’s likely we could see these new keyboards in stores before then. Hopefully a wireless Force Touch trackpad is on the way too.

Nice article Buster! I really hope this is true, a backlit wireless keyboard would be awesome!
I’m a bit perplexed how on earth the power button would work work a switched off imac..
Probably because of the Bluetooth pairing perhaps…of maybe a unique ID from the kbrd to the mac it’s attached too or paired with. Has to be, no other way really….something about the pairing must be what allows or makes it happen.
Bt chip on Mac Would have to be powered separately from the machine being turned on. Obviously the unit is plugged in so that would technical tk be possible but a sort of secondary circuit . Seems a lot of work just for a keyboard and suggests more to me it’ll be for some bigger purpose like homekit- iMacs that are aware in a low power state etc
nah, Apple probably added some chip in it, it’ll be a full power on/off I’m sure. That doesn’t make sense.
Cause it might be the power button for the keyboard itself?
Especially useful for those who use the keyboard in their home theaters.
Man I hope this is true, the other offerings out there are sucky. there’s a few Logitech models I think but they are wired not wireless and backlit, either or but not both.
Logitech K811 is wireless and backlit.
Bit no power button
This and a wireless force touch trackpad and I’m IN…here’s my money.
Quite impressive component redundancy they would have going on, when backlighting LEDs. Not to be a smartass, but I imagine you meant backlit keys with LEDs as the light source in your headline. ;)
Finally!!!! :D
Cause people don’t actually want a full-size, wireless keyboard *gasp*
