Great Apple deals can be hard to come by on Black Friday, but here’s a nice exception: If you’re looking to get your hands on an Apple TV, Staples is having a killer deal, selling Apple’s set-top streaming media box for just $79, a $20 savings..
Staple’s deal is part of the electronics retailer’s Black Friday Blowout sale, and it’s actually one of the best deals on the Apple TV that you’ll find this year. As tech news site RazorianFly notes:
That compares to Target which will be selling the box for $89 through November 27-29, Best Buy who hinted the media streamer will be on-sale at $89.99 through November 27-29, Costco who will be selling Apple’s $99 box for $97.99 (including, a $15 iTunes Card), and RadioShack who will drop the Apple TV to $85 (through a $15 rebate) during the holiday period.
But while Staples might offer the best flat-out discount on the Apple TV, it still may be a better deal to buy the set-top box directly from Apple. Why? Because if you get an Apple TV from Apple before December 1, you’ll get a $25 iTunes Gift Card for free.
So what it comes down to is this. If you purchase a lot of apps and media through iTunes, you should buy an Apple TV from Apple for the equivalent of $74.99 this Christmas. If you’re buying an Apple TV for someone else as a gift, but don’t use iTunes or the App Store much, Staples is your best deal.

I don’t see where the iTunes card is added if ordered from Apple. Is there a promo code that has to be entered?
Deal goes live Friday on U.S. online Apple store, or in US based brick and mortar.
I would upgrade, but iTunes shows and movies are cheaper on the 2nd generation AppleTV than on the new ones. It is 720p, but episodes are $1.00 less, and I think that’s a great compromise.
does the deal come into effect in the UK aswell or just in the US?
The best deal is to buy an Apple TV directly from Apple – refurbished for $75 (plus tax). Now, on Black Friday, and later.
