I’ll be the first to admit I don’t really like it when people buy new iPhones just to destroy them on camera. It’s extraordinarily wasteful, not just of money but of the craftsmanship Apple puts into every device.
That said, even I have to admit this iPhone 6 torture test is awesome. Dude took an iPhone 6, froze it with liquid nitrogen, and then disintegrated it with a sledgehammer, like some cryogenic Thor.
Here’s the entire torture test:
This nightmarish stress-test video was filmed by YouTube channel RatedRR, who also performed the inevitable “Will It Blend?” test.
According to the channel owner, four other torture tests are forthcoming. That means he intends on destroying six perfectly good iPhone 6 units before he’s done. That’s extraordinarily wasteful — but I’ve got to admit, if any of them are as good as the sledgehammer video, I’ll tune in.

It seems like a waste of money to destroy a perfectly good device. I wonder why they bother to do this. It seems as though any smartphone would shatter the same way under those conditions. I’ll admit though, that dude is good at swinging a sledgehammer to get a direct hit on such a slim object.
I know right? Still pretty awesome slow mo though. :)
They do it for the viewing figures on Youtube; if they get enough views on their monetised videos, they get their “money back”, in a round-about way. Plus plenty of ego-massage thrown into the bargain.
Well it didn’t scratch the metal! :D That’s the good thing? but the moral of the story is….don’t put your iPhone in a blender.
OH NO AN IPHONE IS BEING DESTROYED SOMEONE PRAY TO THE VENGEFUL GHOST OF STEVE JOBS THIS IS BLASPHEMOUS
WE MUST CRUCIFY THIS MAN TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE APPLE TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR BEING SUCH A HEATHEN
They obviously make ALOT more money from us viewing these, than it costs to buy 6 new iPhones. People wouldn’t do this without that motivation.
Correct. People are inclined to post an unlimited amount of nonsense on Youtube these days for that exact reason. I have become very cynical.
This is so stupid, what is fun about this?
The most impressive part is the clip above the video, coupled with the fact that he managed to get a good direct hit on the device. I wonder how many attempts it took to do that, and how many iPhones?
so I have to wait 3 weeks to get my phone because this a-hole bought six phones just to destroy them all…
Exactly – I wish I had 6 iPhones to destroy. Plus one for me to actually, you know, use.
a fucking waste
It’s not just a waste of money, but a waste of the rare earth materials that went into making it. If collecting rainwater is illegal, then this should be too.
