Of course Wired is prepared for Apple’s iPad, says Chris Anderson, the magazine’s editor in chief.

Responding to Tuesday’s piece that Wired‘s digital version won’t work on the iPad, Anderson says the magazine knew all along about Apple’s aversion to Flash and Air, and has a solution.

“Obviously we knew about Apple and Flash from the beginning and there were no surprises there,” he says in an email. “We have a solution and will launch on the iPad according to plan and on schedule, along with Android and Windows — it’s a full cross-platform strategy, which was the idea all along.”

Anderson wouldn’t say what the solution is, but it’s a good one, he claims.

We’ll ship everybody physical magazines. That way, it doesn’t matter what computing device they have, or even if they don’t have one, they can read it. Also, it doesn’t need to be recharged, even if you try to read it years later.

Silly dave, Steve told us no one reads any more.

Maybe they can improve their iPhone Wired app, which seems pretty half-assed. There is not a single Apple product review on there.

    They are moving to HTML5

Umm, lat time I picked up Wired Mag – it was the same articles motly as on the web, but the amg was overloaded with US based adverrtisers of no relevance to me in NZ. Whay is it so hard to deliver the freeking mag as a pdf??

This is good news. But WiReD has been just another mag for over a decade. I used to pay full price for issues, then I subscribed. I canceled a few years later. Still later, I accepted a free subscription, but these days, it is just another “gee whiz” mag highlighting press releases from consumer electronics companies, so I rarely even glance at it.

It used to be a cutting edge publication. Now it is just a sub-par generic.
