Apple announced the successor of the iPad, but rather than just calling it the fifth generation iPad the company deviced the improved device deserves a new name, so they’re dubbing it the iPad Air.

The new device is 20% thinner than the iPad 4 at a width just 7.5mm thin and weighs only 1 pound, making it the lightest full-size tablet in the world. Apple has shaved off space from the bezel as well.

Apple didn’t only redesign the outside though. A new A7 chip with 64-bit architecture has been loaded in the device as well as the new M7 processor. Graphic performance and CPU have both been double from the previous generation.

The iPad Air is the first device with MIMO technology for 2x faster Wifi and faster LTE. It also comes with a 5MP iSight camera that can capture HD video, dual microphones, and improved illumination. Battery life still sits at 10 hours and its available in Space Gray and Black.

A 16GB iPad Air will run you $499 and launches on November 1st.
