Fox News unveiled a first glimpse at its new studio for the Fox News Deck that features some insanely gigantic tablets that will be used by Fox’s Information Specialist while the Shepard Smith serves up the hottest topics of interest.
The 55-inch Windows-based touchscreens will be used by the crew to sift through rumors on Twitter (four tweets at a time), confirm reports, and spin through Google Earth to deliver an entirely new experience, for better or worse. While the studio could easily morph into an arena for the world’s first televised Angry Birds tournament, Fox says the news deck is designed to appeal to viewers who are “non linear” and sift through news all day on their phones.

Possibly the dumbest headline ever. They aren’t iPads, you even say so in the article. Please don’t make “iPad” the “Kleenex” of tablets
Wow. What a ridiculous title. I’m not sure why iPad is in the title at all? These are clearly Windows 8 touch screen monitors running in HyperV. Wow. And they look pretty damned awesome.
Extended use of large touchscreens causes what’s known as “Gorilla Arm Syndrome”.
Having the screen at desk-height helps a little, but really the ergonomics of touchscreens don’t scale much above tablets in terms of how much your arm can handle without fatigue setting in.
Large screens like Surface are designed to be used by multiple people, each of which manipulates a small part of the overall area.
No kidding!! What a waste of space. Too bad decent FACTUAL reporting is long gone. Click whores, one and all. Also too bad I had to register to type this post. With this kind of stupid, I won’t be coming back.
