This week’s roundup of must-have iOS apps kicks off with, The Croods, the latest game from Angry Birds maker Rovio. It’s the official game for the upcoming motion picture from DreamWorks, and it sends you back to the Stone Age for a pre-historic adventure. We also have Calendars, the latest app from Readdle; the hugely addictive Super Stickman Golf 2, and more.

The Croods throws you back into the Stone Age for a “pre-hysterical” adventure in which you’ll have to hunt and gather through colorful landscapes in a bid to survive.

You’ll have to trap and tame 10 evolutionarily “mixed-up” creatures that are unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, such as the Girelephant and the Molarbear. You’ll create wacky inventions that’ll help you stay alive, and decorate your pre-historic world with the latest in caveman fashion accessories.

The game also gives you a chance to meet the characters from the movie before they become big stars.

Calendars — iPhone (Free)

Calendars-by-Readdle

Readdle, the creator of some of the best productivity apps for iOS, has replaced its awesome $6.99 Calendars app with a new version that won’t cost you a penny. It has all of the same great features it has always had, only now you can enjoy them for free.

Calendars promises to be “the most elegant and easy to use calendar application available on the App Store.” It syncs with Google Calendar and Apple’s built-in Calendar app and lets you manage all of your events whether you’re online or offline.

The app’s interface is designed to make it as easy as possible to manage your schedule, allowing you to quickly navigate between dates, create new events or modify existing ones, and more. And because it syncs with Google Calendar, you’ll find support for all the great Google Calendar features, including tasks, SMS reminders, recurring events, and invitations.

Super Stickman Golf 2 — Universal ($0.99)

Super Stickman Golf 2 is the sequel to one of the most enjoyable golf games on iOS, and it promises to outdo its predecessor is “almost every possible way.” It features more than 20 dynamic courses with over 180 challenging holes, new power-ups, customizable characters, 60 achievements, and two multiplayer modes.

The visuals have also been improved so the courses look better than ever, and their moving obstacles, portals, and magnets make them the most creative to date. And you can have even more fun on them by playing with a friend, thanks to the game’s turn-based multiplayer.

Super Stickman Golf 2 supports iCloud syncing, so your progress is synced between iOS devices, as well as leaderboards, and local multiplayer over Bluetooth.

Ridiculous Fishing — Universal ($2.99)

From the creators of Super Crate Box, Ridiculous Fishing is described as a “handcrafted game about fishing with guns, chainsaws & toasters.” Sounds awesome, doesn’t it? You follow Billy as he chases his destiny on the high seas and embarks on a heroic quest for glory and gills.

Your aim is to catch as many fish as possible in the most ridiculous ways. Drop your hook into the ocean and get it as deep as you can, then catch as many fish as you can on the way up. They’ll be thrown into the air, which gives you the opportunity to gun them down. See, it really does live up to its name.

There are hours of fun to be had across different continents, plus a never-ending infinite arcade mode, as well dozens of unlockable weapons and items — including awesome fishing gear like the world’s most expensive hairdryer, and a bowling ball.

Huemore — iPhone ($1.99)

Huemore-iPhone

Huemore is an awesome new camera app from Curious Satellite, the creators of Hueless. It’s designed to meet the needs of serious photographers, according to its App Store description, giving you the opportunity to capture stunning color photos on your iPhone. It features live exposure, contrast, color saturation, and color filters, allowing you to tweak your snaps until you have the look you want.

Huemore comes with four standard live color filters — two warming and two cooling — and allows you to create up to four of your own presets by picking color and intensity. It supports a number of aspect ratios, including 4:3, 3:2, 1:1, and 2.39:1, and allows you to share photos via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and email.

Huemore geotags your photos, and offers features like a high ISO mode, tap-to-focus, and exposure lock. It even integrates with Launch Center Pro.
