Know Your Meme – Harlem Shake iOS Edition [Video]

Jumping the shark.
Jumping the shark.

Well, you know a meme is winding down in “cool factor” when developers start creating videos like this one. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, as the following video of iOS development objects and assets do the Harlem Shake, like any number of thousands of videos on YouTube.

Sure, it’s goofy, and a bit on the geeky side, what with the developer connection, but it’s worth a giggle this fine Friday afternoon. As with all the Harlem Shake meme videos, this one starts with one character (Tap Me) dancing suggestively to the dance tune of the same name, by American DJ, Baauer. Then, once the drop occurs, all heck breaks loose and the rest of the hardworking objects get their groove on.

Heck, if you’re an iOS developer, you can grab the source code for this yourself over at github, compile it, and add to any of your own projects. The folks that created and then open-sourced the code, Velos, advise you don’t put it into a shipping product, but who’s gonna stop you?

Like I said: silly, but strangely compelling. Enjoy!
