HBO has been holding out on embracing the future of technology and AirPlay, but it looks like they’re ready to get serious about customer who want to cut the cord.

While speaking at All Things D’s Dive Into Media conference today, HBO’s Eric Kessler announced that starting today, the company will be enabling AirPlay for HBO Go.

While HBO Go still requires a cable subscription to HBO, now you’ll be able to enjoy episodes of Game of Thrones on other TV’s that don’t have a cable box hooked up to them.

HBO says that they’re not stopping with just AirPlay, but they hope to bring HBO Go to the Apple TV natively in the near future.

“Our longterm goal for Go is to be on all devices all platforms. We will get on Apple TV as we’ve said all along.”

HBO Go is a free app for iPhone and iPad that allows users to watch every episode of HBO’s shows for free on the iPad or iPhone. Kessler did not say if HBO plans to offer paid version of HBO Go to users who don’t have an HBO cable subscription, but with competition heating up from companies like Netflix that now offers premium shows, we’d be shocked if HBO doesn’t open up the service to the public in the future.
