It seems like the iPhone 5 just barely came out, but Apple is hard at work on the iPhone 6 – or iPhone 5S if that’s what they’re gonna call it. Starting the new year off, developers have already seen evidence that Apple is testing the next generation iPhone and iOS 7.
The Next Web has spoken to multiple developers who have shown them references to a new iPhone and iOS 7 being tested. Developers’ logs show that Apple has been testing new hardware that carries a ‘iPhone6,1’ identifier. The iPhone 5 carries an identifier that’s either ‘iPhone5,1’ or ‘iPhone5,2’ depending on the LTE model of the iPhone and which 4G bands it operates on.
Along with the iPhone 6 being tested, it’s running iOS 7 which Apple isn’t expected to release until mid-2013. The iOS 7 references have started appearing much earlier compared to iOS 6 references we saw last year. iOS 6 didn’t start appearing in analytics until a month before it was announced at WWDC.
The references to the new iPhone and iOS 7 did not reveal any clues about new hardware or software features. Are Apple’s engineers rushing to get a big iOS 7 update earlier than we’re expecting? Who knows. But as the first version of iOS with Jony Ive’s fingerprints all over it, we can’t wait till Apple lets us get our greasy hands all over it.

Did you mean the 7th iPhone or the 5S?
Hopefully iOS 7 is made of aluminium and has clean lines.
Company keeps making products. News at 11.
As much as I understand Apple’s reluctance to fragment the product line, I think the market is clearly calling for larger screens. The hell with the whole “one – handed use” theory, a mega iPhone (say 4.7″) would be a huge hit, IMHO.
Some of the Android flagship phones have very impressive screens, and something resembling a giant sized, lightweight iPod Touch (gotta love the choice of colors) would bring a much needed refresh to the iPhone.
Might as well speculate; there’s not a whole lot of gadget news this time of year.
I’m tired of speculation in general. The [tech] media overanalyzes every piece of shoddy “news” they can find and then act disappointed or not surprised at Apple’s next product launch / refresh. Sure, an argument would be that if Apple revolutionized everything annually then the speculation would be empty and useless, but that simply can’t happen. I do not care whatsoever that Apple is going to create another product. We ALL know that. Once it has been released, awesome. I’ll read up. But reporting to us that you have evidence that Apple is working on the next iPhone is annoying and near-sickening.
Love my job, since I’ve been bringing in $5600… I sit at home, music playing while I work in front of my new iMac that I got now that I’m making it online(Click on menu Home)

Happy New Year!
Exciting. Although I really don’t think that there would be drastic UI changes. Some native apps might probably get a redesign, like the Calendar and the Notes apps. But the rest would likely have minor facelifts gearing away from its current skeuomorphic look. I am thinking that iOS7 would introduce more customization features. Perhaps themes. Giving users some options as to how their iOS device would look like.
Ahem, iOS 7 is software and made up of zeros and ones and is non-physical. You’re confusing the operating system with the phone itself.
Isn’t that an old style concept iPhone? We’re up to 4 inches high now with 5 rows.
I’m thinking that extra_medium is simply referring to the removal of skeumorphic design that is prevalent in Contacts/Calendar/Game Center etc..
