Jimmy Kimmel Mocks ‘Suckers’ Who Are Buying The New iPad Mini [Video]

Buying an iPad mini today? You’re just another ‘sucker’, apparently.

Apple’s iPad mini goes on sale today, and a lot of you who are reading this are likely going to pick one up, or will be waiting in for yours to be delivered. One person who probably won’t be buying the device, however, is chat show host Jimmy Kimmel, who calls it “a bigger but not gigantic iPod you cannot talk on.”

In a new video, which is supposed to be a parody of Apple’s new iPad mini commercial, Kimmel mocks the company’s long list of iPods and iOS devices, which he sees as nothing more than slightly different versions of the original iPod. Check it out:

Maybe it’s just me and my British sense of humor, but I didn’t really find the clip funny at all.

I don’t find the clip funny, really. I mean, what’s funny about devices that evolve over the years into better versions of themselves?

But then again, Apple-bashing seems to be the cool thing to do nowadays.

British sense of humor? Don’t you mean Humour? Either way Jimmy Kimmel lacks both. The best part of his shows are the adverts.

I think this clip is hilarious. I absolutely LOVE my Apple products, every 5-6 of them… However, what is life worth if you can’t poke fun and laugh at yourself and the things you love once in a while.
Btw, I’m standing in line for the iPad mini…
    Sincerely,
    A self-proclaimed, proud sucker

P.s. I’m going to buy the charger too!! PYAAAAH!!!!

Go Apple. It’s ok to laugh at yourself sometimes. What other tech company can be poked and everyone can laugh at? Microsoft? They do it to themselves with their CEO – although Ballmer jumping and screaming on stage may be more scary than funny. And Samesung.. well they are just not funny at all.

Kimble is a loser and should be ignored. He has no talent at all.

Is that what passes for humour in the States?… That guy needs a punch in the throat….. Even I could host my own comedy show over there then, I could just inanely state the obvious with an up-beat patter, and then I too could have the audience whooping along like I’d just promised them all a new car as a present.

It seems like every damn talk show host in America makes a parody commercial when each and every new Apple product comes out…

Eh… not my idea of humor (or “humour” for you Brits, Canadians and Australians). I think it’s fine to be able to laugh at myself for past screwups and boondoggles I’ve created, and I even think it’s OK to poke fun at Apple when they make mistakes. However, I don’t find Kimmel’s “ad” holds any kind of shred of basis for ridicule. Calling different versions of the iPod, iPhone and iPad all iPods with different features is ridiculous. It would be like listing a painting, a photograph, a radio, a TV and a computer and then saying they’re all the same thing with slightly different features. Force “humor” at best. Humor has to have some intelligence behind it to make sense and be funny, and sadly all too often what passes for humor is simply the shock value of calling someone an assh*le. Strictly low-brow at best, comparable to those who think it’s funny when people fall down and hurt themselves.

Apple’s development of the iPod, iPhone and iPad (and the Mac, of course) have utterly changed my personal and business life. I love their products for what they do for me and what I can get done with them. If that makes me a “sucker”, I’ll wear the badge with pride.

you can talk with it…facetime, 3g…etc.

People don’t like when fun is made of apple? and yet fun poked at Microsoft is stupendously hilarious..
…… this only confirms that you are an apple sucker. I like my iPhone 5 but really? Get a life and a sense of humor.

Kimmel, Conan, Leno, Letterman; all just slightly different, newer versions of Johnny Carson. “Tonight show with …” viewers must be suckers.

  • aardman

No it’s not you Mr. Bell, Jimmy Kimmel is not funny. He belongs to the school of comedy that confuses being snarky with being witty.

  • flitzy

Jimmy Kimmel? Oh, yawn. Has he EVER been relevant or amusing?

He just strikes me as that guy that guy who just makes an arse out of himself on the playground trying to be funny but, instead, just comes off as an annoying prat.

Most part of the joke was OK.

But, I’ve always find it funny how in North America you can go from hero to zero!! In Canada, we can see the same thing happening with RIM (Blackberry). Now it’s Apple bashing time… I’m a proud user of Apple product! Do I think it’s overpriced ? A little, but does the quality follow? Of course!

The hardware for me is cutting edge great… Now I would really like to see iOS be more like that! I think it should be the priority for Apple to bring a updated iOS packed with good features that most can be found on Jailbreaked iPhone!

Anyway just my two cents!! ;)

But he’s not making fun of Apple. He’s making fun of customers. That is a difference

Of course. Cause then it gets talked about and they get more attention.
