Earlier versions of the Artoo didn’t have an iPod dock.     Sweet! But you might want to make a small correction: the 1G and 2G iPods didn’t have dock connectors, so there’s no way they’d be able to plug into the dock. The product page says it works with the 1G and 2G nanos.
