Former Apple VP Andy Miller Joins Leap Motion To Revolutionize Your Mac

We’ve been drooling over the amazing power of Leap Motion’s powerful 3-D motion control software since we first got wind of it back in May. It’s the coolest way to interact with a computer since the invention of the mouse, and it looks like Leap Motion is bringing in some serious firepower to help get the company’s first product off the ground.

Former Apple VP, Andy Miller, has just been hired as Leap Motion’s COO and President. Miller left Apple in August of 2011 after working as Apple’s VP of Mobile Advertising since 2010 when his mobile advertising company, Quattro Wireless, was purchased by Cupertino. Hiring Miller gives Leap a significant figure who’s familiar with Silicon Valley and the challenges Leap will face when marketing their product against Microsoft’s Kinect controller.

Speaking about his new job at Leap Motion, Miller stated:

“I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the most influential figures and companies in the technology industry, and I’m as excited about the Leap as I’ve ever been about a technology. The potential for the Leap is limitless, as it is going to fundamentally change the way we interact with so many devices in our lives. I’m thrilled to come on board and looking forward to growing Leap Motion into the technology powerhouse it’s on the road to becoming.”

If you’ve never seen the Leap in action, a video of our hands with it back in June can be viewed below. What do you think? Will Andy Miller be the key to getting Leap the massive user base it needs? Or does Leap Motion need to do something else to compete with Microsoft? Let us know in the comments.

No. Do not like. This looks really stressful for the arms. Can you imagine waving your hands and arms around all day to get some work done? While interesting, and possibly useful in a narrow range of applications, this looks like one of the dumbest ideas yet…..as an experiment it may be interesting, as a way to actually use a computer it seems, pardon me, really rather stupid. Tunnel Carpel on Steriods for one thing….
