Ever since the first iPod, Apple has had problems with squatters sitting on top of Apple-related domains, trying to scam people. Here’s another one. It is now seeking to take ownership of the Applecom.com and ApplePrinters.com domains and protect its trademark after filing a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on March 29.

This isn’t the first time the Cupertino company has taken aim at cybersquatters or “typosquatters” who register domain names that are very similar to its trademarks in a bid to attract accidental visitors. Back in November 2010, it obtained a number of addresses containing the word “iPhone” that all pointed to mobile porn sites, and it’s taken many more in the past.

However, Apple doesn’t always go after domains. Two years after launching the first iPad, it still doesn’t own iPad.com and has never attempted to claim it, and neither does it own iBooks.com or iBookstore.com. All of these addresses point to sits that are in no way related to Apple or its products.

Apple is likely to end up with Applecom.com and ApplePrinters.com after filing its complaint, because, well… it’s Apple.
