Are you still rocking iOS 4.3.3 on your jailbroken iPad 2? Time to bite the bullet and upgrade to iOS 5.0.1. If you don’t, you might lose your window to jailbreak iOS 5.
Here’s the deal. Thanks to the efforts of pod2g and his hacking dream team, an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4Ses and iPad 2s running iOS 5.0.1 is just BigBoss explains:
Apple is due to release 5.1 soon. When that happens, they will stop signing 5.0.1. This means you will only be able to restore to 5.1. 5.1 breaks the upcoming jailbreak. If you are currently a 4s owner or an ipad 2 owner, you will want to get your device to 5.0.1 ASAP. This way when the jailbreak is released, you will be able to use it. If you do not restore to 5.0.1 now, in a few days when 5.1 is out, you may never be able to get from 5.0 to 5.0.1 and only option will be to wait again.
We know the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 are definitely coming, so if you want to make sure you have an iOS 5 jailbreak this year, better try to live without your jailbreak tweaks for the next couple of days and take the plunge into iOS 5.0.1.

Do you actually have to upgrade to 5.0.1 or can you just download it and have at the ready when the jailbreak is released?
Hmmm, how about just saving the SHSH blobs of 5.0.1 via TU and then update when the JBÂ released.Â
rsorbo, yes you need to upgrade, or once Apple releases 5.1 you wont be able to get 5.0.1.
Guest, SHSH blobs do not work with the iPad 2 or iPhone 4S over iOS 5.0, so you need to upgrade ASAP if you want to jailbreak.

You need to upgrade, Apple verifies on the install, not the download.
What about people with 4S that’s waiting on the unlock? Does 5.0.1 have a different baseband from that of 5.0?Â
