Pod2g and his “Dream Team” of fellow iOS hackers seem to be making some pretty decent progress on their much-anticipated A5 jailbreak, promising in their latest blog post that the exploit’s public release is now just “a matter of days” away.

If you haven’t already heard about the Dream Team, it’s a group of hackers personally assembled by Pod2g to assist him with his upcoming jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2, under Apple’s latest iOS 5 software. In addition to Pod2g himself, the renowned jailbreak hackers planetbeing, MuscleNerd, and p0sixnija are also involved.

And they’re making some pretty sweet progress. In his latest blog post, Pod2g promises the A5 jailbreak is not far away now:

Here are some news about the current work on the A5 research. @planetbeing escaped from the sandbox with the help of @saurik. Thanks to their awesome work, there should be nothing left blocking for the A5 jailbreak. Now it should be a matter of days. Still no precise ETA of course. We all want this to be finished ASAP, we’re getting tired!

This is promising news for users with Apple’s latest A5-powered devices, who are still unable to jailbreak. Those with an iPhone 4S have now been waiting four months for the exploit, which those with an iPad 2 who upgraded to iOS 5 last summer have been waiting seven months.

We will, of course, be sure to let you know as soon as the jailbreak goes live.
