Siri On Non-iPhone 4S Devices Will Require Piracy, Says Dev Team

If you’re hoping that the Dev Team will be able to port the iPhone 4S’s new Siri feature to other devices like the iPad 2 and iPhone 4, prepare for a disappointment: MuscleNerd says that it will likely require piracy, and therefore, they probably won’t do it.

On Twitter, MuscleNerd wrote:

Anyone hoping for a “port” of Siri from iPhone4S: pending a very low-level A5 exploit, it likely can’t be done without piracy :(

(only way to extract Siri files from iPhone4S filesystem without pirating is to have the main FS keys, requiring low-level exploit)

In other words, the only way to get Siri on a non-iPhone 4S is by ripping off the files and installing them on another device. You can’t trick an iPhone 4 into identifying itself as an iPhone 4S to download Siri directly from Apple. Granted, it’s mostly a semantic argument, but it does mean that the Dev Team won’t be helping you with your Siri jones.
