More App Store Approval Madness – Religious Imagery is ‘Objectionable’

An App Store gatekeeper, whose name may or may not be Peter, officially positioned Apple as a ‘Holier Than Thou’ company recently, by rejecting the whimsical photobooth application Me So Holy.

The app would have allowed users to place photographs of themselves or others inside pre-set figure avatars that could let cousin Jim appear to be the face of Jesus, or Joe Bob to be Mohammed, or Mary Jane to be a bodhisattva, or, you get the picture.

Apple rejected the app, saying it “contains objectionable material,” according to Me So Holy developer Benjamin Kahle.

Its NOT the religious imagery that its objectionable… its the making fun of it and ridiculing it.

Do you know that especially in Islam, ALL depictions of Allah are considered to be blasphemous ? There arent any images at all in their places of worship.
Now taking in mind that, how do you think they would feel when the image of Allah is used in such a ridiculus and indignified manner ?

It’s ridiculous that they objected to that app. Looks like some nice programming and feature development. The whole blasphemous argument is just plain silly. I can’t wait for the next few hundred years when most of the [thinking] planet will abandon the whole notion of religion. Beam me up now, please.

I’m with Apple on this, as a christian I would have been offended.

And there are how many “fart-generator” apps available?

I’m offended that anyone thinks their religion is more important than my personal expression.

History is littered with people martyred for practicing their religious beliefs. If yours can’t handle a little sophomoric humor, it’s time to find a new one.
