A police investigation looking to recover stolen goods found a pile of iPhones and iPods at the bottom of a California lake.

Sgt. David Watts of the Big Bear Police Department said the divers spent four hours in the murky water of Four Island Lake in Central California.

In addition to the Apple devices, a team of four divers also brought up a shotgun, drills, chainsaws and other power tools.

The watery scavenger hunt is part of an ongoing investigation that led to the June arrest of a person busted for  over $1,000 of stolen photographic gear.

It is not immediately clear why the latest collection of loot was buried in the lake, police told the Associated Press.
