Just as our own Charlie Sorrel was puzzled by CruxCase’s first turn-your-iPad-into-a-MacBook keyboard-case when it arrived in 2012, I too am not exactly won over by the idea — I’m just not sure I’d ever want to bulk out an iPad by entombing it in a massive aluminum slab.

Besides the name — the new model, CruxENCORE, sounds like a more solid marketing decision than the first case’s name, CruxSKUNK — and the fact that the new case is designed for the iPad Air, the general idea remains the same. Like the original, the CruxENCORE, with its aluminum casing and full-sized chiclet-style keyboard, emulates a MacBook’s clamshell-style ergonomics — right down to the large hand-wrest islands just fore of the keyboard.

LifePrint might finally have invented a printer that you’ll want to use. It’s a wireless, internet-connected box that lets you print pictures from your iPhone (or Android phone), and you can also send photos direct to the printers of your friends and family.

Did your mother ask you to send her your baby photos? You can just print them out on the LifePrint she has sat in the hallway, on top of that lace doily.

The Ember bag is a Kickstarter that – at first glance – seems to be a bag out of some first-person-shooter. It’s a modular backpack design, which starts out as a “20-liter urban pack” and can be extended by adding all manner of sleeves and pockets.

Here we go: Just as the spring eases into the seasonal throne and forces winter to curl up and pretend to be a footstool for the next three months, along comes the Allo, a combination bike mount and speaker for your iPhone. It’s a Kickstarter project, but as the expected delivery date is May, you should get one in time for summer.

The Stubilizer is an accelerometer-and gyroscope-controlled mount for GoPro cameras, and it’s designed to smooth out shaky video shot with the action sports cam. Designed by extreme sports junkie Stuart Smith, the rig is small and light enough to mount ion a helmet, and it uses little motors so it doesn’t’ need giant cantilevers and counterweights.
