Virtual Today at Apple sessions will help train up next generation of Chicago artists

Apple is continuing its string of virtual Today at Apple events by offering budding artists in Chicago the opportunity to participate in free online art sessions.

Called Sentrock’s Summer Studio, the Webex series is aimed at Chicago high school students aged 14-18. It takes place July 27-31, and features “a lineup of Chicago’s most influential creators” as they take attendees into their studios, teach illustration tips and techniques, and share some of their visual styles.

Apple’s “Made in LDN” Today at Apple program will kick off later this month, after Today at Apple sessions were canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Because of the continuing effects of coronavirus, the sessions will take place online, rather than in Apple Stores.

The Made in LDN sessions are aimed at teaching skills to young musical artists, aged 16-25, in London. They will run from July 27 through August 28. Registration kicks off today.

Become a wiz at Apple’s Clips multimedia app in online Today at Apple session

Anyone unfamiliar with Apple Clips can watch a quick tutorial to start having fun with it.

An online Today at Apple at Home session released Thursday introduces using Apple Clips. This free software lets iPhone and iPad users combine video clips, photos and music into fun videos.

And because this is Global Accessibility Awareness Day, the session is taught in American Sign Language by Gus from Apple Carnegie Library in Washington, D.C. Subtitles and audio narration are also included.

An Apple employee teaches the basics of the free GarageBand music-creation software in an new video tutorial from Today at Apple. It covers sampling sounds from your kitchen to make house music.

Normally, these free educational sessions are held in Apple Stores, but with these all closed during the COVID-19 crisis, they’ve gone online. There are already training videos for drawing and taking better pictures.

Apple cancels all ‘Today at Apple’ sessions across U.S. and Canada

Apple is continuing to take preventative measures against the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S. by canceling all ‘Today at Apple’ sessions at Apple stores in the U.S. and Canada.

Earlier this week, ‘Today at Apple’ sessions in Seattle and San Francisco stores were canceled until March 29. Cult of Mac confirmed Friday that the company has canceled all further sessions at all retail locations in the U.S. and Canada for the foreseeable future.

Apple closes all 17 stores in Italy [Updated]

Apple is set to shutter all of its stores in Italy beginning Thursday until further notice as the country goes into total lockdown due to concerns over the coronavirus outbreak.

All 17 stores in Italy have updated their webpages showing that doors will close early Wednesday and the company isn’t saying when they will be reopened.

Apple cancelled classes in its retail stores in two cities in California and Washington where the novel coronavirus is spreading. A check of the calendar for “Today at Apple” in both Seattle and San Francisco finds nothing scheduled.

However, this doesn’t seem to be a first step toward closing the Apple Stores in these cities. Even temporarily.

Apple cancels ‘Today at Apple’ sessions in Italy amid COVID-19 outbreak

Apple on Friday cancelled its “Today at Apple” sessions across all stores in Italy amid the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

Apple Oriocenter, a store in Italy’s Bergamo Province, is also closed temporarily as Apple makes efforts to help contain the spread of the coronavirus. It is currently out of action until March 8.
