Piper Jaffries analyst Gene Munster: Thanks to his endless advocacy of the so-called Apple HDTV, claiming year after year that Apple’s television set is just a few months away, Munster’s a bit of a laughingstock, even amongst the shallow knowledge pool of most tech analysts.

Instead of predicting the imminent arrival of a mythical Apple device, though, in Munster’s latest note, he’s making a far more reasonable prediction: When the iPhone 6 makes its debut September 9, only the 64GB model will ship with a sapphire glass display. And he’s got a call on the iWatch as well.

Apple hasn’t announced the iPhone 6 yet, but that isn’t stopping the world’s largest carrier from opening up preorders.

In Beijing, China Mobile has begun accepting preorders for the unreleased smartphone in both 4.7 and 5.5-inch sizes.

The iPhone 6 is gearing up to replace your wallet and as part of the initiative to get its upcoming mobile payments system off to a head start, Apple is reportedly in talks with Nordstrom regarding a potential payments partnership.

Nordstrom department stores could be one of Apple’s first merchant partners for the new payments platform it will reveal next week, reports BankInnovation, stating the luxury retailer is making upgrades to its mobile point-of-sale terminals as park of a deal with Apple.

Apple is expected to launch a tsunami of new products this fall, starting with next week’s official unveiling of the iPhone 6. With the rumor mill hitting all-time new heights of crazy, you’d think iPhone 6 sales would be off the charts when it hits stores September 19. But Piper Jaffray’s top Apple analyst, Gene Munster, is predicting that won’t be the case.

Munster hasn’t been one to shy away from bold Apple predictions (no matter how many times he’s wrong), but his latest note to investors claims iPhone 6 sales probably won’t be as nearly as huge as the iPhone 5s during launch weekend.

Here are Munster’s estimates:

While the number of leaks regarding the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 means a lot of people aren’t expecting to be surprised come September 9, the larger 5.5-inch phablet iPhone remains something of a machine of mystery.

A new component uncovered by French Apple website Nowhereelse.fr, however, purports to show a 2,915 mAh capacity battery from the lesser-seen 5.5-inch model iPhone 6.

Provided that the part is legitimate, it represents a considerable increase from the 1,570 mAh battery included in the current generation iPhone 5s.

A slew of reports and leaked pictures have suggested that Apple could ship a new Lightning cable with reversible USB connector in the iPhone 6’s packaging. That’s not happening, according to venerable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Kuo, who is rarely off the mark with his Apple predictions, has said that a new charging cable won’t debut this month due to “cost concerns” and “limited improvements to overall user experience.”

We’re fairly confident that Apple will show off the iPhone 6 at its September 9th media event next week, but when will the new hardware actually go on sale?

Signs are pointing to Friday, September 19th for the date that preorders begin—at least in the Netherlands. The Chinese media and Deutsche Telekom support representatives have already mentioned the 19th as new iPhone day too.

After years of reports saying that NFC is coming to the iPhone for mobile payments, it looks like it will finally be a reality on September 9th.

Part leaks have indicated that Apple’s next-gen iPhone hardware will indeed be equipped with NFC to make transactions for physical goods at brick and mortar stores. Now Apple has struck a partnership with American Express, Visa and MasterCard to support mobile payments in the iPhone 6, according to new reports.

When you start to see assembled iPhone 6 devices basically powered on, you know it’s getting late in the rumor mill cycle. Basically every part imaginable for Apple’s forthcoming smartphone has leaked ahead of its September 9th unveiling.

Now hi-quality shots of what looks like a near finished iPhone 6 hull have surfaced. They show the defined antenna lines on the back as seen in previous parts, but this time they’ve been colored to look more at home on the phone.

iPhone 6 components have been leaking out of China like a broken fire hydrant, and while we’ve joked that someone could probably make a working iPhone out of all them, the guys at Feld and Volk actually went and did it.

Using parts sourced from their suppliers in China, the Russian luxury iPhone modifiers have assembled an iPhone 6 using a leaked case, logic board, display, true-tone flash and camera, and then connected the hacked-together device to iTunes just to see what would happen. To their surprise the device booted up, but couldn’t connect to the software update servers.

The iPhone 6’s NFC chip has been spotted for the first time, according to images of an supposedly leaked iPhone 6 logic board that’s been fully assembled with Apple’s next-generation A8 processor, NFC chip, and another chip from Avago Technologies.

Previous leaks have shown the iPhone 6’s bare logic board, but the images from Feld & Volk give us our first look at some of the new chips. The new 2Ghz dual-core A8 chip is expected supposed to be much faster and smaller than the A7 in the iPhone 5s.

Here’s a shot of the NXP’s tiny NFC chip that could also make an appearance on the iWatch:

Although it’s being widely reported that Apple’s mythical wearable will share the stage with the iPhone 6 on September 9th, that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to get your paws on it anytime soon.

Recode, the same publication that nailed the September 9th Apple event date weeks ago, is now saying that the iWatch won’t be ready to ship until early 2015.

If you’re expecting the upcoming 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6L to cost the same as an iPhone 5s, think again. That extra display could be coming at a $50 premium, according to a new report.

The official unveiling of the iPhone 6 has finally been announced for September 9th, and while the iWatch has been rumored to make a surprise appearance at the event, “informed sources” out of China report that Apple’s 5.5-inch iPhone 6 won’t be seen at the Flint Center for performing arts.

Chinese tech blog IT168 Mobile reports that Apple’s upcoming event will launch two new iPhones, but we will only see a 4.7-inch iPhone 6, plus a new 8GB iPhone 5s to presumably to replace the iPhone 5c.

Apple sent out press invites for its September 9th event earlier today, the date when the iPhone 6 and iWatch will reportedly be unveiled.

Corroborating an earlier story by Recode, Bloomberg’s own sources are confirming that new iPhones and an Apple wearable will share the stage.

Given that Apple has promised new “product categories” this year akin to the original iPhone and iPad launch, it seems odd that there won’t be a separate Apple event dedicated to its wearable strategy. Sharing an event gives Apple the opportunity to pitch the iWatch—or whatever it’s called—as an accessory to the iPhone. And that could ultimately be better for Apple’s bottom line.

Though the iPhone 5s has been very successful, its minor updates from the iPhone 5 have left me wanting more. In fact, I’ve created quite the wish list for the next-generation iPhone.

Apple’s decision to host its biggest event of the year at the Flint Center in Cupertino, rather than the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, has caught the notice of many Apple fans.

Only three Apple events have been held at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts, including the introductions of the Macintosh in 1984 and the Bondi Blue iMac in 1998. That’s also about the last time the Flint Center updated its website.

Apple just made its September 9 iPhone/iWatch event official by sending out press invites that revealed pretty much nothing other than the date of the event. To add to the mystery of what could be an Apple double-feature, with both the iPhone 6 and the iWatch taking the stage, one MacRumors reader at Woz’s alma mater noticed that Apple is already building a massive side stage at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts.

Apple has sent out media invites for its previously rumored September 9th event, so now it’s official. “Wish we could say more,” reads the especially cryptic invite.

The iPhone 6 is going to attempt to replace your wallet, according to a report from Wired, claiming Apple’s mobile payment system will debut as a major feature in the iPhone 6, and NFC is a key piece of the puzzle.

Apple’s mobile payments platform will take on Google Wallet, Square, and others this September by adding NFC and a secure element to store all your credit cards info on the iPhone 6, allowing users to make NFC payments with retailers with out having to fumble around with your cash or credit card.

We’re 23 days and counting (most likely) from the iPhone 6 going on sale, and more and more components are surfacing to tease what we can all look forward to in our next generation handsets.

The latest leak comes from French Apple website NowhereElse.fr and depicts a selection of SIM trays, Home buttons, Apple logos, speakers, and vibrator motors.

Apple will unveil its first foray into wearables at a special event in September, reports Recode’s John Paczkowski who previously reported that Apple had an October event scheduled for the iWatch, but the plans have changed.

Rumors of production delays have hounded the iWatch over the last few months, suggesting Apple might not even reveal the device until early 2015, but according to Recode’s report, the iWatch will actually debut alongside the two new iPhone 6 models during an event on September 9th.
