Fingers is a concept design, but it’s so simple and clever, and so easy to make for yourself with just a piece of stiff card and a pair of scissors, that it seems worth taking a look. It’s yet another desk-tidying cable manager, but you’re going to love it, I promise.
This Is The Most Realistic iWatch Concept We’ve Seen Yet
We’ve seen a freaking ton of iWatch concepts over the past few months. Most of them suck. However, Martin Hajek’s new concept is beautiful, even though it’s not very functional.
Working for MacUser magazine, Martin created his iWatch concept by focusing on a traditional approach to watch making. The clock-face has a large display that looks like a mini iPad mini, but it’s got the natural touches of a regular watch – like the leather strap and clasp.
The UI doesn’t look like something you could actually use (who’s got fingers tiny enough to tap those Xs in Tweetbot?), but the hardware is great. If Apple does come out with an iWatch later this year, we hope it looks something like this:
This New Lock Screen Concept Gives Your iPhone A Vertical Settings Bar [Video]
The interface designer behind the Auxo app-switcher concept (@Sentry_NC) has come up with another fantastic idea, this time aiming his attention at the Lock Screen of iOS. In this new concept, iPhone and iPad users would be able to swipe over from the right hand side of their device screen, revealing a host of settings that typically require launching the Settings app for.
I sure hope Apple implements something similar.
What If Apple Ripped Samsung Off For The iPhone 6? [Gallery]
There are a lot of crazy rumors floating around out there about the iPhone 6. It might boast a huge screen, come in different colors, have a polycarbonate body, and maybe even a fingerprint sensor. If you believe even half of those rumors, then this might be Apple’s craziest iPhone yet.
Most of the rumors will probably be proven false, but what if Apple decided to go down a crazy path and actually rip off Samsung’s smartphones? Well, one concept artist decided to dream it up.
Here’s What Apple’s iWatch Might Look Like According To Concept Designers [Gallery]
Over the last couple months, we’ve seen Apple fanboys’ obsession move away from an Apple TV set, and focus on the iWatch. As rumors have ramped up that Apple might make their own wearable computer very soon, people have wondered what an iWatch might look like.
We’ve seen a lot of concept renderings of iWatches over the past two years, and while many of them have been a bit crazy, some are pretty neat and feasible. We don’t really know much about the iWatch other than it will have a curved glass display and be worn on the wrist, but if you combine a few aspects from each of these concepts, you might get a ballpark idea of what the iWatch will look like.
Imagining An Apple iWatch With A Curved Glass Display [Concepts]
The iTV, iRadio, and now iWatch. Apple rumors never sleep, and the latest batch of reports reveal that the folks in Cupertino are working on the future of wearable technology, externally dubbed “iWatch.” Little is known about the device, other than it is being designed for the wrist with a curved glass display.
Since iWatch rumors started re-gaining momentum in recent weeks, many have been speculating about how such a device would work.
Auxo Designer Shows Off Awesome New App Switching Concept For iPhone [Video]
Auxo, a wonderful app switcher from interface designer Sentry, has become a must-have tweak for jailbroken iPhones since it hit Cydia back in December. But it seems Sentry has plenty of other ideas up his sleeve when it comes to improving the multitasking experience on iOS.
He’s released a new concept for switching between apps on the iPhone that’s unlike anything you’ve seen before. Check out the video below.
This Is What Game Center Should Look Like In iOS 7 [Concept]
Awhile back we showed you a great concept for a redesigned iOS Notes app. The concept was part of Cult of Mac reader and designer Adrian Maciburko’s iOS 7 “Crystal Interface” idea. Now Maciburko has shared a redesigned Game Center interface that does away with the skeuomorphism in iOS 6. No more woodgrain or felt textures.
Auxo Designer Reinvents iOS’s Do Not Disturb Feature [Concept]
Sentry, a designer famous for the awesome Auxo tweak that overhauls the multitasking tray on jailbroken iOS devices, has today published a new concept that reinvents the Do Not Disturb feature that Apple introduced to iOS 6. He doesn’t change the feature itself, he just changes the way it’s activated to make it super quick and simple.
Auxo Is By Far The Best App Switcher Ever Designed For iOS Devices [Jailbreak]
Apple’s iOS operating system is great, and I love it. But five years on, there’s certainly some room for improvement all over the place. Take the app switcher, for example: sure, it does its job, but it’s very basic — Apple could a lot more with it. And one developer has proven that with Auxo, the best app switcher ever designed for jailbroken iOS devices.
Auxo doesn’t just look great, displaying live previews of all the apps you have open, but it’s also intuitive and offers lots of innovative new features. It started off as a concept, but after receiving lots of positive feedback, its creator brought it to life. Apple, take note.
This Simple Concept Fixes Everything That’s Annoying With Notification Center
Notification Center in iOS and OS X is great in concept but kind of crappy in practice. First off there’s the linen background that doesn’t really make sense when you’re pulling down a curtain for notifications in iOS. There’s also those tiny little X buttons that you have to tap twice to close notifications, and a couple other annoyances that fill up the Notification Center page.
Alex Saretzky decided that Notification Center needs to be spruced up by simply applying Apple UI concepts that have been used in other apps. His new concept for the Notification Center isn’t a complete revision, but more like fine tuning, and it’s something that Apple should implement with iOS 7.
Concept Designer Imagines A Cleaner, More Futuristic Instagram iPhone App [Video]
Like many of you, I love Instagram. It’s one of my top 5 most used iPhone apps. Lately I’ve started to get tried of Instagram’s user interface. While the app’s design has certainly evolved over the years, the overall aesthetic has stayed the same since 2010. I really like the minimalist, Metro-ish design taste, and apparently so does a concept designer named Stephen M. Levinson.
Stephen has uploaded a short video of how he has re-imagined Instagram, and it looks awesome. “I redesigned parts to be a bit more intuitive to gestures, removed the top menu bar that felt unnecessary, and I wanted to make the shots look like actual polaroids,” he told TechCrunch.
I’m not sure about all of Stephen’s design choices, but I love the idea of Instagram having a more gesture-driven interface. What do you think?

Your iPhone Is A Digital Suitcase, And This Case Makes It Look Like One
Back in the good old days of the 20th Century, a person’s edge-beaten leather suitcase might be the accessory they traveled with the most, with which they had visited the most exotic of foreign, jasmine-scented climes, and it would be covered with stickers of all the places they’d visited.
These days, people don’t have as personal of a connection with their suitcases, and showing someone you’ve been somewhere is usually done by checking-in on Foursquare. Your iPhone is the accessory you’re most likely to travel the world with, which is why I love the iPhone (Suit)Case, a conceptual iPhone case by Dallas illustrators / artists David Soames and Dustin Taylor that makes your iPhone look like a miniature suitcase.
Sadly, it’s just a concept right now, but voting’s open on Threadless to turn this product into a reality. Hopefully one made with real leather.

A Touchscreen iMac Might Be Impractical, But It Would Look Awesome In The New iPad Mini Ad [Video]
Steve Jobs said that touchscreen desktops just don’t work, pretty much ruling out the possibility of a touchscreen iMac in the future. But he also said that tablets under ten inches don’t work, and his company is now selling the awesome iPad mini. There’s every chance, then, that we’ll see an ‘iMac touch’ someday, and it’ll fit in perfectly alongside Apple’s iOS devices — as this awesome concept commercial demonstrates.
Introducing The iPhone 5 With Widescreen Retina Display [Video]
Created and animated by Sam Becket, this cheery video of all the features the next iPhone 5 will pack when Apple announces it tomorrow.
Unlike some of the videos that have gone around lately, it’s remarkably down-to-earth, emphasizing (as Apple will) the device’s extraordnary thinness, its new antenna, the new 9-pin Dock Connector, LTE, the new nanoSIM, the longer screen and more.
Seven Bizarre iPhone Concepts That Apple Almost Made For Real [Gallery]
Over the past few years we’ve seen hundreds of fake iPhone mockups, some have been bizarre, while others looked so good we wished they were real. What’s been most surprising is that some of the weirdest looking concepts are actually fairly similar to prototypes Apple was working on in their labs.
Thanks to the evidence in the Apple vs Samsung trial, we got to see the different iPhone prototypes Apple was working on, so we’ve gone back and found 7 artists mockups that look a lot like prototypes Apple was working on.
Concept Is A Slick Virtual Cork Board For The iPad
Concept is one of the nicest implementations of the virtual corkboard/scrapbook we’ve seen. You can add photos, post-its and index-cards to various “boards,” and rearrange them at will.
It’s a 1.0 release, and as such lacks a few basic niceties (like portrait orientation) but the polish and ease of use make up for it.
Hurrah! Wonderful .Mail Email Concept Is Coming To Your Mac
Remember that concept we showed earlier this month you for an awesome email app called .Mail? We pleaded with creator Tobias van Schneider to turn his idea it into a reality, and it looks like he listened, because .Mail is coming to your Mac. And you can sign up now to be the first to know when it drops.
SlideWriter Brings Awesome iPad Text Editing Concept To The App Store Today
Remember SlideWriter, the innovative iPad text editor that turned one impressive keyboard concept into a real app, which we told you about back in May? Today it’s finally available to download from the App Store for just $0.99 for a limited time.
This Transparent iPhone Is The Most Beautiful Concept Design We’ve Ever Seen [Video]
Apple must have a hard time thinking of ways in which it can improve the design of the iPhone; after all, it already looks pretty terrific. But this concept design for a transparent device is by far the most beautiful iPhone we’ve ever seen. In fact, it pains me to realize we’ll never see an iPhone like this.
Switchy: A Rethinking Of The iPhone’s App Switcher Comes To Life [Jailbreak]
The iPhone’s app switcher is where you go to quickly navigate between apps in iOS. Apple has added more features to the little switcher tray over time, like handy music controls. Double tapping the Home button on your iPhone reveals one row of recently opened apps to choose from, and you can swipe from right to left to see more icons. Without getting into the debate about whether the app switcher is a true multitasking environment or not, it’s safe to say that it does its job. But could the experience be improved?
When Brent Caswell detailed his rethinking of the iPhone’s app switcher a few days ago, he had no clue the concept would come to life. Thanks to the ingenuity of the jailbreak community, a new Cydia tweak implements Caswell’s ideas to extend the functionality of the app switcher.
Instagram Camera Concept Wants To Become Real With Your Help
The Socialmatic Instagram camera concept caused quite the buzz after we posted it last week. After making the rounds on all kinds of blogs and design sites, the concept’s creator, Antonio De Rosa of ADR Studios, decided there was enough interest to try and turn the dream into reality.
De Rosa has launched a campaign on Indiegogo to raise funds for turning the Socialmatic into a real-life camera. The concept is based entirely around Instagram and the idea of physicalizing the way we share on social networks. Will the camera actually see the light of day? That’s up to you.
Socialmatic Concept Turns Instagram Into A Physical Camera [Gallery]
Following Facebook’s $1 billion acquisition of Instagram, news and rumors surrounding the photography app have continued to swirl.
What would happen if Instagram sold a standalone camera to take and share pictures? While such a thing will obviously never happen, the idea was interesting enough to inspire “Socialmatic,” a physical camera concept for Instagram.
Awesome iPad Text Editing Concept Now Available As Tweak In Cydia [Jailbreak]
An innovate idea for iOS often gets introduced to high praises from the Apple community, and one of three things usually happens: 1.) Apple implements the idea, 2.) Jailbreakers implement it first and Apple eventually does the same, 3.) Apple ignores the idea entirely and jailbreakers enjoy it exclusively. We’re hoping that number 2.) will happen in this case.
Remember when we showed you the amazing concept video for easily editing text on the iPad? Put together by Daniel Chase Hooper, the concept showed how you could edit text with finger drags and gestures instead of the tedious ‘tap and drag’ method Apple currently implements. Many of us said we wanted to see Hooper’s concept in iOS 6.
As it is known to do, the jailbreak community has already heard our collective cry and answered with a new jailbreak tweak that just went live in Cydia today. Dubbed SwipeSelection, a new way of editing text is now available for jailbroken iPad and iPhone users.
Introducing The Liquid Metal iPhone 5 [Concept Gallery]
This is a rather beautiful concept for what the next-gen iPhone could look like, courtesy of French designer Antoine Brieux. . It’s fanciful stuff, of course, featuring a Liquid Metal casing, but what I find most interesting is this idea that the home button could be replaced with a “virtual home button” that displays on a larger 4.5-inch widescreen display.
