On Friday, we started something new here at Cult of Mac: we asked you what iPhone games you were playing that we might recommend for our weekend gaming feature.

On our part, we recommended Space Miner: Space Ore Bust, a humorous, lite RPG spin on Asteroids.

Here’s some of the games you recommended that tickled our fancy.

Hookchamp ($2.99, Free): Indiana Jones in 8-bit. This wonderfully energetic platformer focuses less on ubiquitous jumping than an extremely satisfying swinging mechanic. I’m loving the retro-style of this game, but so far, I’m finding the control mechanic a bit hard to get used to.

iJumpman ($2.99): This title’s Atari 2600 graphic style is even more retro than Hookchamp’s, but look beyond the graphics and you’ll find an intriguing proto-Mario platformer in which the constant of gravity is changed according to the tilt of your iPhone’s accelerometer.

Plants vs. Zombies ($2.99): If you don’t already own PopCap’s fantastic tower defense game pitting the herbological against the zombological, what are you waiting for? The port’s pitch perfect, except for the regrettable lack of the Mac and PC’s version “Endless Survival Mode” (read: the only mode worth playing). I’m still crossing my fingers that it’ll eventually be added in as an In-App purchase down the line, though.

Zombie Pizza ($1.99, Free): There’s no shortage of zombie games on the App Store, but this game merges human viscera with first-person Tapper-esque gameplay. What can I say? The inner ten year old was entertained.

Any other games you guys are playing right now worthy of note that we should feature at the end of the week? Tell us in the comments.
