White iPhone 4s Now Showing Up In AT&T’s System

If you’d asked me a couple of months ago if we’d ever see the release of the white iPhone 4, I would have laughed: delaying the white model until just three months before the assumed release of the white iPhone 5 just seemed like an empty promise, and I expected another quiet announcement on Apple’s part once March arrived that the white iPhone 4 had been canceled once and for all.

Looks like I’m going to have to swallow my skepticism: white iPhone 4s are now popping up in AT&T’s system. It appears that the white iPhone is a very real product indeed.

Two entries for the white iPhone 4 are listed in AT&T’s Online Account Management System: one for the 16GB white model, the other for the 32GB white model. There’s no indication on when those iPhones will be released, but late February or early March is the best bet.

The more I think about it, the more I wonder if the white iPhone 4’s delay is a conciliatory gesture to AT&T for losing iPhone exclusivity in America. Verizon might have the iPhone now, but I wonder if they’ll get the white one: a white iPhone exclusivity for a few months would at least give AT&T something to put ads out about during the Verizon iPhone launch window.
