That's nowhere near enough to meet early demand.

Getting your fingers all over the iPhone X’s edge-to-edge super Retina display won’t be easy during 2017.

According to one of the most accurate Apple analysts in the game, the new tech inside the iPhone X will cause the supply of units to be severely constrained. Even though the new device doesn’t go on sale until November, Apple’s going to be facing production shortages for quite some time.

The wireless future Apple is embracing is starting to look absolutely magical. And very convenient.

The pros and cons of wireless charging

Why do you do this to us, Apple?
Photo: Apple

The new iPhone 8 and iPhone X support “wireless” charging. That is, you can toss them onto a charging mat instead of plugging in a Lightning cable. Obviously this is more convenient when you’re at home — you can put a pad on your nightstand, desk or hallway table.

But there are other advantages to iPhone wireless charging that aren’t so obvious. And there is also one big disadvantage — one that has the potential to cause major damage to the Earth.

Just calling the cameras in the iPhone X and the iPhone 8 plus “cameras” is like mistaking the iPhone itself for a phone. The combination of hardware and software in these new machines could better be likened to a movie FX or photography studio in the extent of their capabilities. The standout feature on these new iPhone X camera is Portrait Lighting, and today I want to take a look at why it’s so amazing.

Sure you can take pictures with it. But the iPhone X shows the future of the camera will have little to do with the photographic image.

Hard to believe that a smartphone camera born from two tiny megapixels and a fixed-focus lens10 years ago now includes 3D facial recognition, augmented reality and a studio lighting emulator.

The camera system on the 2017 iPhones features more than incremental improvements for making pictures and recording video. In fact, the new camera hardware transcends photography and plays a deeper role in personal communication, entertainment, and data security.

Apple’s been working on its own wireless charging accessory, but don’t necessarily expect to see it to ship alongside the company’s new iPhones.

That’s according to respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities. While the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X will reportedly all support wireless inductive charging standards, users must settle for third-party Qi chargers (at least at first).
