With Apple’s last keynote live stream being an utter disaster, we weren’t holding out much hope for another one in the foreseeable future. But the company has today posted a note on its website that confirms you will be able to tune into next Thursday’s iPad event via the Apple website.
The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were unleashed on the world just two weeks ago, but Apple is already getting prepared to announce a handful of new products, including an updated iPad Air that will be the thinnest tablet Apple’s ever created.
As next week’s iPad Air event looms on the horizon, the Michael Report claims to have received pictures and illustrations of the new iPads, and have released a full report of the upcoming changes that may include an A8 processor with 2GB of RAM, thinner body, and some small design tweaks.
The iMac is Apple’s only machine that hasn’t gone Retina, but a new report claims the wait is almost over for the desktop beast — Apple is “incredibly likely” to announce its new Retina iMac next month.
Despite KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s usually excellent track record on Apple predictions, he messed up his last prediction that the iPad Air 2 would make its appearance at Apple’s iPhone 6 launch event two weeks ago.
Obviously, that didn’t happen. But if you’re eager for an iPad Air boasting an A8 chip, a new report corroborates a rumor we’ve heard before: it’s coming in October. Don’t wait for an A8 iPad mini though: it’s at least three months away.

The Verdict: Too early to tell. Production is ramping up on the next gen iPads, and while Apple could use some whiz bang features to boost sales, making it slightly easier to read the iPad outdoors probably isn’t going to be enough on its own. Looking at consumer data for the calendar quarter which ended June 30, CIRP noted that the flagship iPhone 5s accounted for an impressive 62 percent of total iPhone sales in the quarter, while the iPad Air took 52 percent of all iPad sales in the quarter. Why is this significant?
