Apple has reportedly ditched ideas to develop an Apple store in Stockholm, Sweden. This came after the Stockholm City Council vetoed plans for a proposed flagship retail store in the area.

According to a member Stockholm Urban Development Committee, Apple representatives were extremely upset after their proposal was rejected. The company had already made revisions to its proposal in order to fit the proposed historic location better. Apple also turned down officials who said they would help find a new location for the Apple Store.

Apple chooses some spectacular, historic locations for its Apple Stores — but those spaces don’t always want to be home to trendy retail stores selling expensive smartphones.

In Stockholm, Sweden, the new government has announced that it will block plans for an Apple Store in the Kungsträdgården park. While it welcomes Apple’s arrival in the city, it says that “Kungsträdgården is the wrong place.”

Apple Pay has launched in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and the United Arab Emirates.

Taking the mobile payments service to four additional markets brings the total count to 25 countries since Apple Pay launched in the United States in October 2014.

As part of his trip to Europe, Tim Cook visited a forest in northern Sweden with a representative from one of the companies which supplies Apple’s sustainably sourced packaging.

On Twitter, Cook described the “breathtaking forests,” which he got to experience with employees from Iggesund Paperboard, a supplier that that has been working to provide Apple with packaging for its various devices for more than 10 years. As part of his trip, Cook symbolically planted some pine trees.

Apple has unveiled its plans to build a flagship store in the heart of Stolkholm, Sweden, and it’s just as gorgeous as you’d expect.

Wendy Beckman, head of Apple retail stores in Europe, presented the proposal at Kulturhuset in Stockholm, complete with a miniature model on display for the public. The new Apple Store borrows some designs elements from the iconic Fifth Ave Apple Store with a large glass box comprising the store space, with a stylish metal roof on top.

The proposed store would blend in with the Royal Garden, surrounded by fountains, cafe tables, a large pool, and tons of trees. Visitors will be able to stop by around the clock to enjoy the beautiful scenery and free Wi-Fi.

The Swedish car company, which wants to build cars that do not crash, has teamed with helmet manufacturer POC in an attempt to solve the problem of car-bike collisions. Their solution? Wearable technology that alerts both motorist and cyclist when a collision is imminent.

Volvo, POC and smartphone manufacturer Ericsson will unveil the safety system at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next month.
