Those of us with an iPad have big expectations for the next version of Apple’s mobile operating system. These tablets pack performance comparable to laptops, but the software continues to lag.

Here’s what Tim Cook and Co. can do to remedy that.

The first glimpse of Apple’s new Music and TV apps for Mac has been revealed with less than a week to go before WWDC 2019.

9to5Mac published two leaked screenshots of macOS 10.15 this morning just one day after they showed off leaked screenshots of iOS 13’s dark mode. The Music app and TV app screenshots look pretty bare, but reveal some new UI tweaks before Apple’s big keynote on June 3.

The big iOS 13 news is all about the iPad. Or at least, we expect it to be based on rumors and leaks. But what about the iPhone? How will iOS 13 shape up on the most popular of iOS devices? Will it be a dead year, while the iPad gets all the (somewhat overdue) attention? Or will it be just as exciting for iPhone owners?

The good news is, the iOS update will probably be huge overall. In recent years, Apple has managed to lock down the secrecy around software, but this year the rumors — based on purported leaks — abound. That might mean the iOS 13 is bursting with new stuff.

WWDC 2019 and the grand unveiling of iOS 13 is just over a week away and based on the rumors, it could be one of the biggest iPhone and iPad upgrades ever.

Designer Alvaro Pabesio published a beautiful new concept that showcases what some of the most popular requested features could look like. Dark Mode, an updated Files, a redesigned volume indicator, iMessage profiles and more are on full display, plus some tweaks that Alvaro dreamed up himself.

There’s one big thing I wish for when I kneel next to my bed at night, cross my fingers and think of iOS 13: better audio. Not better quality audio. That’s already great. I just want better control, and better features.

And this isn’t just specialized podcasting or music-making stuff. There are problems everywhere. You know how when you’re listening to music, and you open up the camera app, and your music stops playing? That kind of problem. Which is number one one on my list by the way. Check out the rest:

Apple’s work on iOS 12 isn’t quite done just yet.

Even though WWDC 2019 and the debut of iOS 13 is less than a month away, Apple is out with its first beta of iOS 12.4 today. The new beta comes less than a week after Apple released iOS 12.3 to the public, bringing the new Apple TV app to the masses along with tons of bug fixes and performance improvements for iPhone and iPad.

Last year, iOS 12 gave a stay of execution to older devices by supporting exactly the same iGadgets as iOS 11. This year, owners of aging iPhones and iPads may not be quite so lucky.

According to a new rumor, iOS 13 will not support the iPhone 5s, iPhone SE, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. On the iPad side, it will cut off support for the iPad mini and original iPad Air.

iPhone owners can expect to get a new batch of Animoji characters later this year according to newly leaked details regarding Apple’s iOS 13 update.

After revealing Animoji as a feature on the iPhone X, Apple has been slowly updating its library of characters over the last few years. The last iOS 12.2 update added new characters for giraffe, shark, boar and owl and it appears that we’ll get at least four more fun characters to play with later this year

Update: Heads up developers! Today is the last day to register for WWDC 2019.

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference officially has a date.

This morning, Apple revealed that it will host WWDC 2019 in San Jose, California, from June 3 to 7. The event brings together thousands of developers from across the world, giving them access to Apple’s engineers for hands-on training. It’s also the place where Apple unveils its biggest software updates of the year. Based on early rumors, it could be one of the most exciting WWDC’s in years.

Apple has quietly updated the female British voice for Siri. The improvements can be heard today on HomePod and iOS devices.
