Apple offers free repairs to victims of Japan floods

People in Japan hit by the recent massive floods are getting a little help from Apple if their iPhones, Macs or iPads were damaged as a result of the floods.

In a message posted on its regional support site, Apple says it is offering flood victims free repairs on damaged Apple products from now until the end of September.

Apple Watch is finally starting to face some bigger competition from rival smartwatch-makers, based on the latest data from Canalys.

Fitbit and Garmin are capitalizing on the wearables trend and diversifying their lineups to appeal to specific use cases. As a result, Apple Watch’s market share shrunk even though it sold more watches in Q2 2018 than it did during the same period last year.

The iPhone absolutely dominated its Android competition in the United States during the second quarter or 2018.

According to the latest data from the folks at Kantar, iPhones took 8 of the top 10 spots in smartphone sales, helping iOS gain market share at Samsung and LG’s expense.

Apple might be about to post another better-than-expected earnings report next week driven by strong iPhones sales and Apple’s booming services business.

With Apple’s earnings call for the third fiscal quarter of 2018 slated for July 31, Guggenheim Partners analyst Robert Cihra predicts Apple will have another solid quarter of growth with 43 million iPhone units sold.

Apple’s iMac computers make a surprisingly good home for spiders. Or at least one really tiny spider that found its way in between one shocked owner’s LCD panel and front glass.

The spider can be seen crawling around inside the iMac on a video posted to YouTube. At first, the owner thought it was a digital prank. But when he starts moving different app windows over it and the spider starts running around, he realizes this is no joke.

Future iPhone cameras could soon rival the pixel count of high-end DSLRs thanks to a new 48 megapixel sensor created by Sony.

Sony says it has created the highest pixel count sensor for a smartphone with its new IMX586 sensor. Usually higher pixel count means lower quality low-light photos, but Sony has managed to merge the best of both worlds. And it might make you want to toss your DSLR.

The movie was filmed by Ed’s cousin Murray Cummings and focuses on the making of his third album “÷” that came out last year.

Apple’s biggest competitor in China could soon supplant it as the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world in terms of units shipped.

Huawei says it’s on track to ship 200 million phones by the end of 2018 after setting a blistering pace of 100 million units shipped as of July 18. That won’t be quite enough to top the number of iPhones Apple sold last year, but 2019 could be Huawei’s biggest year ever.

iPhone gains on Android in U.S. smartphone activations
