Apple CEO Tim Cook joined Apple Store employees in Palo Alto, Calif. this morning to greet customers as they arrived to purchase the latest Apple Watch or iPhone.

This is a fall tradition for Cook, who stood outside the door to be the first to greet and shake hands with customers as they came through the door.

The world’s not fair. Most people haven’t even gotten their hands on the new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, and already a video of Apple’s top newest handsets being purposely damaged has shown up online.

It’s the work of YouTube channel TechSmartt, which describes it as the “ultimate drop test” for Apple’s new handsets. And while we think that the “ultimate” suffix might be better saved for a more scientific drop test, we’ll take what we can get at this early stage!

With no mention of it during the iPhone XS keynote, and little sign of it on Apple’s website, it was beginning to look like AirPower had been wiped entirely from Apple’s plans. But it seems the wireless charger isn’t quite dead yet.

AirPower is mentioned in the iPhone XS user guide, early adopters have noticed today. A reference in the latest iOS 12.1 beta also provides hope for the device.

Chinese smartphone maker Huawei recently stole Apple’s crown as the world’s second biggest smartphone maker on volume. But it’s still keen to position itself as a scrappy young upstart, jabbing away at the larger, trillion dollar Cupertino giant.

With that goal in mind, the Chinese manufacturer today trolled Apple at the launch of its iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. How? By parking up a Huawei van outside Apple’s flagship retail store in London to engage with prospective customers.

A number of customers are reporting that their delivery dates have slipped to Monday, September 24 — but that may not be the case, after all.

Forget Amazon’s Prime Day, Black Friday, or Cyber Monday — if you’re an Apple fan, the biggest non-holiday day of the year is new device day. And it’s finally here!

As of 8am local time on Friday, September 21, the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and Apple Watch Series 4 go on sale around the world. While we’re still a few hours away from that time rolling around in the U.S, a number of places in the world have already received their devices. And, boy, do their customers look happy!

Hordes of Apple fans hoping to get their hands on the new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are starting to form massive lines at the company’s stores all over the globe.

The two new iPhones and Apple Watch Series 4 go on sale Friday, September 21 but there will only be a limited supply available. Some of the iPhone XS Max models sold out within the first few minutes of preorders being opened, but that hasn’t stopped some fans from trying their luck by waiting in line, even if it means standing in the rain for hours.

The iPhone XS is already being delivered to some lucky customers on the far side of the globe.

Apple fans in the U.S. still have over 12 hours to wait before their iPhone XS pre-orders start being delivered, but in New Zealand that pre-ordered the iPhone XS, XS Max and Apple Watch Series 4 are already reveling in their new devices.

Many of the folks who set their alarms to pre-order Apple’s new products last week are receiving alerts stating that their orders have shipped. These include orders for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and Apple Watch Series 4.

The earliest delivery dates for the devices are for September 21. This is the same day they should theoretically go on sale in stores, although the most popular models are unlikely to be available straight away.

The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max go on sale tomorrow morning, and — as has become tradition — fans are already lining up.

One report published today claims that, by noon local time on Thursday, around 250 people had already lined up outside an Apple Store in Singapore. The person at the front of the line had flown from Vietnam the previous day, and had started queuing at 6 a.m. Thursday.

Need more proof that the iPhone XS and XS Max are the most amazing cameras Apple’s ever made?

John M. Chu, director of the breakout hit movie Crazy Rich Asians was enlisted to shoot a new short film shot entirely on the iPhone XS Max. This is not the first time an A-list director has only used the iPhone to make a movie, but what stands out about Chu’s short is he used zero equipment. No lenses. No lights. No stabilizers. Just the iPhone in his hand.

iPhone X owners that pre-ordered the new iPhone XS might be in for some disappointment when they try to slap their old case on the new iPhone.

Even though the dimensions of the iPhone XS are practically identical to the iPhone X, it appears that Apple has made a very small change to the camera bump in the back that could make some old cases incompatible.

There are some things Apple never tells us about its iOS devices, so we have to wait until they go on sale and find out more for ourselves. But thanks to one regulator, we now know some important details about the new iPhone lineup.

Updating too early could just cost you all your precious data!

The new camera sensors on the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max could be worth a $1000 upgrade all their own.

Early reviews of the new cameras are overwhelmingly positive. Even though we already knew Apple made the pixels larger and the sensor bigger, we now have a better idea of the crazy engineering that went into making it the best iPhone camera ever.

It’s irritating when your iPhone runs out of battery. But it can actually be life threatening if you depend on your phone’s NFC feature to get into your dorm room or onto a train. 

That’s why the iPhone XS and the other 2018 models still offer some NFC transactions even when down to the power reserve.

Early reviews for the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max have already come in and while most of the people that have tested the new device are impresssed, this years models aren’t as big a leap as the iPhone X.

Testers are raving about the camera, A12 processor, big display and faster LTE. The new phones are truly impressive, but if you have an iPhone that came out in the last two years, you might want to see what the experts are saying first.

Apple’s latest iPhone lineup is its most expensive yet, with prices starting at $999 for the iPhone XS and $1,099 for the iPhone XS Max. But Apple CEO Tim Cook doesn’t see a problem with that.

In an interview with Good Morning America this week, Cook again defended Apple’s price tags, talked about Apple Watch Series 4, and explained why some devices have avoided price hikes amidst America’s trade war with China.

The iPhone XR is likely to be the most popular new iPhone this year, followed by the iPhone XS Plus, and, in last place, the iPhone XS. That’s according to highly respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Kuo also noted that pre-orders for the Apple Watch Series 4, which in my view was the standout new product at last week’s Apple event, were “better than expected.”

Apple touted support for using multiple SIM cards at once in its new top-tier iPhones during their announcement. But there’s a problem the company “forgot” to mention: this feature won’t be available when the iPhone XS and XS Max reach customers’ hands next week.

This is just one of several features in Apple’s 2018 product lineup that aren’t coming as soon as expected.
