If the rumor mill has it right, new iPhones are right around the corner. But that doesn’t mean you should relegate your current model to the junk drawer once you trade up: You can turn your old iPhone into money in one of several ways.
Apple increases iPhone 6s orders ahead of next week’s unveiling
Despite a slowdown in China’s smartphone market, Apple is reportedly increasing orders of the iPhone 6s ahead of its launch, according to Japan Display CEO Mitsuru Homma.
“They’re coming to us with more orders, saying ‘give us more, give us more’. They keep increasing,” Homma said.
Huawei beats Apple to a smartphone with Force Touch
Apple may have been the first to put Force Touch technology in a smartwatch, but Huawei has beaten the Cupertino company to putting it inside a phone.
At the IFA trade show in Berlin today, Huawei used the Force Touch display in its new Mate S smartphone to weigh an orange, a week before the technology is expected to make its way to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

Sorry, 16GB iPhones will be around for at least one more year
The iPhone 6s is set to be Apple’s biggest incremental “s” iPhone release of all time, but don’t expect the 16GB entry-level model to go anywhere.
A newly leaked photo appearing to show the next-gen iPhone’s user information sheet demonstrates that the 16GB base model will remain for at least one more year.

Surprise! Siri’s hints about Apple event aren’t that helpful
Apple just confirmed its big iPhone 6s event will take place September 9, and while the art on the invite didn’t offer any clues, Apple did give us one tip: Try asking Siri for hint.
Tim Cook’s not about to let his digital assistant leak details of the big event, but we decided to give it a try anyway. After begging Siri to give us a hint, a tip, anything, all we got back was more shade. But at least the replies were pretty funny.
Here are all of Siri’s hints:
Apple’s iPhone 6s event invite asks Siri for a hint
The speculation about whether Apple is really going to unveil the next iPhone at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium is over: Apple just sent out invites to its next keynote, which will take place Wednesday, September 9, at 10 a.m., in the historic San Francisco auditorium where Steve Jobs unveiled the Apple II.
Take a closer look at iPhone 6s Force Touch display
The iPhone 6s keynote might be less than two week away, but we’ve already seen a bunch parts leak out of upcoming smartphone. A source provided Cult of Mac with the images above of an iPhone 6s screen assembly. The new assembly is slightly thicker than the iPhone 6 screen assembly, which is in line with previous rumors that the new device won’t have the same width as the iPhone 6.
We haven’t been able to take a closer look at the screen assembly, but another leak this morning takes a closer look at a mysterious new chip on the iPhone display that appears to confirm Force Touch is coming.
Get your first look at the iPhone 6s Plus packaging
We’ve had various glimpses of the iPhone 6s itself, but until now we’ve not seen the beautiful, crisp white packaging it will come in.
That (may have) changed, with a new leaked photo appearing to show the box for the phablet-size iPhone 6s Plus. Like the next-gen iPhone itself, the box doesn’t differ substantially from the design of its predecessor, although the packaging does feature a few revealing details.

Apple confirmed to host event at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium?
According to a San Francisco website, Apple is confirmed as the reason behind all the mysterious logistics happening at the city’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, the same venue at which Steves Jobs and Wozniak introduced the world to the Apple II.
iOS 9 code appears to confirm Force Touch for iPhone 6s
The addition of Force Touch on the next iPhone has been churning through the rumor mill practically since Apple unveiled the technology with the Apple Watch last year. We’ve yet to see any component leaks that confirm the tech is actually coming to the iPhone 6s, but one developer may have just found evidence that it’s definitely on the way.
iOS developer Hamza Sood discovered key references to Force Touch in iOS today that appear to confirm the iPhone 6s will indeed come with pressure sensitive technology, and it may also add the new trackpad gestures that Apple is adding to iPad with the release of iOS 9.
Here’s what Hamza found:

New iPhone 6s bend test reveals super-strong aluminum shell
Apple is hoping to avoid another Bendgate controversy by using a new aluminum shell for the iPhone 6s that’s twice as strong as the iPhone 6 version. We got our first look at the super-strong iPhone 6s last week, when Lewis Hilsenteger got his hands on a leaked shell that indicates Apple will use series 7000 aluminum for the upcoming model.
Hilsenteger’s latest video puts the new and improved iPhone 6s aluminum frame to the bend test. Only this time, instead of using his bare hands like he did with the original Bendgate video, Hilsenteger uses sophisticated equipment to give us extra insight into the new case’s super strength.
‘Leaked’ Apple ad envisions a colorful iPhone 6s
The iPhone 6s keynote is less than a month away, and while Apple’s not expected to bring any huge design changes to its newest smartphones, the new models could be the most colorful phones out of Cupertino since the iPhone 5c.
Someone has created a fake “leaked” iPhone 6s commercial that envisions what the iPhone 6s would look like if it came in more color options than the iPod Touch. Even though the 30-second spot that supposedly comes straight from an Apple office is definitely not made by Apple, it’s interesting to see what the iPhone would look like if Apple made it as fun as the original iPod ads.
