Samsung cancels all Galaxy Fold preorders ahead of launch

Samsung finally revealed the new launch date for the Galaxy Fold this morning, but if you already pre-ordered, you’ll have to get back in line.

Emails were sent out by Samsung to all customers that pre-ordered the Fold to notify them that their pre-order has been canceled so the company can “rethink the entire customer experience.”

Samsung’s long-delayed Galaxy Fold folding smartphone will finally go on sale on September 6. This comes five months after it was originally made available for preorder.

The troubled handset, which has undergone a major redesign, will launch in South Korea this week. it will be followed by select countries including France, Germany, Singapore, U.K., U.S. in the near future.

Samsung plans to reinvent the flip phone next year with yet another folding display smartphone, only unlike the Galaxy Fold, this one will come with an old-school design.

The new Samsung folding phone will reportedly launch next year and instead of folding out into a tablet, the new design folds inward to make the phone more pocketable.

Huawei this week delayed its first foldable smartphone … again. The Chinese company says there is “no possibility” of the Mate X making its debut in September.

The exciting new handset was originally scheduled to launch in June. Huawei pushed back its launch and admitted it was taking a “cautious” approach after Samsung’s struggled with the Fold.

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold ran into a bunch of problems, but it seems many iPhone owners remain interested in seeing what Apple could do with the foldable form factor.

According to a new UBS survey of customers, iPhone owners show a “generally higher” level of interest in foldable handsets than other groups.
