Flipcase Turns Your iPhone 5c Case Into Real Connect Four
No matter what you think of Apple’s new iPhone 5c case — and, just for the record, I think it’s an eyesore — I think we can all at least agree that it ooks an awful lot like Mattel’s famous game, Connect Four. If only it actually worked that way…
Well, now it does, thanks to a clever app called Flipcase.

The iPhone 5s Is Outselling The iPhone 5c Two To One [Report]
While the iPhone 5s is still difficult to get hold of more than three weeks after its debut — particularly if you want a gold or silver model — you shouldn’t have any problem picking up an iPhone 5c at your local Apple store. That’s because the cheaper device isn’t selling anywhere near as much as its high-end sibling.
According to new research from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), the iPhone 5s is currently outselling the iPhone 5c more than two to one.

Apps Are Twice As Likely To Crash On The New iPhone 5s [Report]
Your swanky new iPhone 5s may be significantly faster than its predecessors, but it’s twice as likely to crash when running third-party apps as the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5c. New research from Crittercism, a company that monitors mobile app performance, has found that apps crash around 2% on the iPhone 5s, but under 1% on its siblings.

Apple Will Announce Q4 2013 Earnings On October 28th
Apple announced today that its financial earnings call with investors for Q4 2013 will be held on October 28th at 2PM PT.
AAPL shares have been slowly recovering from a recent slump after hitting a high of over $700 per share in 2012. The recent announcement that iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c sales shattered past iPhone sales records with 9 million units sold should portend good things for Apple’s earnings and the share price, but Wall Street is always pretty fickle with AAPL, so we’ll have to wait and see if the good news will be enough to get more of Wall Street on board.
Like its previous earnings calls, Apple is allowing the press and its shareholders to listen in to a live audio webcast, which is available via its website and can be accessed on iOS devices. Cult of Mac will be on hand to liveblog the results as they come in, along with any commentary from Tim and the gang.
Apple Will Finally Add A Larger 4.8-Inch Display To The iPhone 6 [Analyst]
Yes, I know, Apple’s new iPhones have been on sale for just over two weeks, but industry watchers are already looking ahead to its successor. Traditionally, the biggest iPhone releases come every other year, so we expect the iPhone 6 to be a big improvement over the iPhone 5s — not just an incremental upgrade that adds a faster processor and an improved camera.
In addition to a new design, Jefferies analyst Peter Misek says the iPhone 6 will come with a larger 4.8-inch display that will satisfy critics and fans of larger phones.
iPhone 5s Is Best-Selling Smartphone, While iPhone 5c Comes In 2nd or 3rd
What’s the best selling smartphone in America right now? Duh. It’s the iPhone 5s. And the iPhone 5c? Either second place or third place at every carrier.
RadioShack Is Selling The iPhone 5c For $50 Now Too [Deals]
The iPhone 5c has barely been out for two weeks but a couple of retailers are already offering promotions on Apple’s plastic handset in hopes of getting more foot-traffic into to stores. RadioShack informed us that it will start offering the iPhone 5c for $50 starting Saturday, October 5th, matching Best Buy’s offer that was announced yesterday.
RadioShack’s discount isn’t a true price cut, but the store is giving customers a $50 gift card to use toward the price of their purchase to knock it down to 50 bucks. It’s similar to Best Buy’s iPhone 5c deal, except Best Buy’s $50 gift card can only be applied to future purchases. Like Best Buy, RadioShack’s offer is only valid when signing up for a new two-year contract, but if you want to drop the price even lower you can use RadioShack’s Trade & Save program and apply the value of your old smartphone to your new 5c.
Update: Not one to be outdone, Walmart just decided to drop the price on the iPhone 5c to $45 from now throughout the holidays.
Best Buy Is Selling The iPhone 5c For $50 With A Contract [Deals]
Looking for a crop of holiday deals to popup before making your decision on the iPhone 5c? Well the iPhone 5c has only been on the market for two weeks but Best Buy is already offering a deal on Apple’s plastic beauty.
Customers can get the iPhone 5c for $50 from your local Best Buy store from now until Sunday. The price drop isn’t a true price cut though as Best Buy is offering a free $50 giftcards that can be applied to drop the price from $99 – the deal is also available for the Samsung Galaxy S4 if you’re interested in a $150 Android handset. Not necessarily the greatest deal ever, but it’s certainly one of the best we’ve seen for the iPhone 5c during its short life thus far.

Every iPhone Ever Goes Head-To-Head In A Speed Test [Video]
At this point, there have been eight iPhones, and with the exception of this year’s iPhone 5c, each has a faster chip and more all around chutzpah than the model that precedes it. You’d naturally think, then, that if you lined them all up in a row and ran a speed test on them, each successive model would accomplish tasks faster than the model that precedes it. But as this video proves, the reality is more complicated than that.
Sales Estimates Show iPhone 5s Is Outselling The 5c Nearly 3 to 1
The iPhone 5s was hard to find this weekend but Apple certainly had no problem with the supply of the iPhone 5c. Early estimates showed the iPhone 5s outselling the 5c by a considerable margin on launch weekend and it’s still outselling its cheaper sibling nearly 3 to 1 a week later according to the newest data from Localytics.

Microsoft Is So Desperate For You To Ditch Your iPhone It Will Happily Buy It Off You
Nothing makes Microsoft happier than seeing an iPhone user ditch their device for a Windows Phone smartphone. In fact, the company will even buy your iPhone off you if you promise to make the switch.
Starting this Friday, you’ll be able to take your old iPhone 4s or iPhone 5 into select Microsoft stores across the U.S. and Canada and receive a minimum of $200 in-store credit for a new Windows Phone device. The move comes weeks after Microsoft kicked off an iPad trade-in program to encourage consumers to switch to its Surface tablet.
Teardown Reveals iPhone 5s Components Costs Start At $191
An early teardown of the iPhone 5s by research firm IHS found that even though Apple has added a new A7 processor, fingerprint sensor and improved camera to its high-end iPhone, the company pays less for the components of the iPhone 5s than it did for the iPhone 5.
The new teardown revealed that Apple pays about $191 on the components to build one 16GB iPhone 5s unit. Add in an extra eight bucks to assemble all the parts, and the $199 total it costs to build the iPhone 5s is six dollars cheaper than the $205 build price IHS estimated for the iPhone 5 last year. The teardown didn’t stop with the iPhone 5s though, as the company put the 5c under the knife as well and estimated it costs about $173 to build a 16GB iPhone 5c.
iPhone 5s No Longer Available For In-Store Pickup Through Apple Online Store
Apple made the iPhone 5s available for in-store pickup on Monday, allowing customers to order their new device online, then collect it from their local Apple retail store later the same day. But just a day later, the option has already been pulled — probably due to the incredible demand Apple seen for the device since it launched last Friday.
Moto X Tops iPhone 5s In Durability Test, Galaxy S4 Comes In Last [Video]
The iPhone 5s might be the closest any smartphone’s ever come to perfection, but none of its shiny glass, metal and chamfered surfaces really matter if they can stand up to some daily wear and tear. To see which new smartphone is the most durable, the gadget insurance company SquareTrade pitted the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c against the Moto X and Samsung Galaxy S4, in a series of damage tests, including getting dunked in water.
In the end, Moto X came out on top, with the iPhone 5s coming in a close second. The Galaxy S4 on the other hand didn’t fair too well, and was dominated by everyone, including the cheaper the iPhone 5c.

iPhone 5s Launch Performance Compared To Other iPhones And Samsung [Chart]
Apple sold 3 million iPhone 5s and 5c units everyday for the past three days this weekend for the most successful smartphone launch in history. Not only did Apple completely dominate its old sales numbers set by the iPhone 5, but based on this handy chart that Horace Dediu whipped up, Samsung has never even come close to any of the iPhone’s launch day performances.
Sure the Galaxy S 4 comes close to the iPhone 3G and 3GS sales numbers, but that was over five years ago. Looks like Samsung still has a lot of catching up to to do, and if early morning trading on AAPL shares is any indication, Wall Street agrees.
