The Best Way To Score Yourself A Deal On A Refurbished Apple Product

By

126566-refurbished-macbook-pro-air

There are a lot of compelling reasons to buy a refurbished Apple product instead of a new one. Not only are they cheaper and come with the same warranty, but because they’ve been gone over with a fine-tooth comb for problems, there’s an argument to be made that they are even less likely to exhibit problems after purchase.

The only problem? Buying a refurbished Apple can be a crapshoot. You go to the official Apple.com Refurbished page and see if the machine you want is available. If it is, great! If not, you just keep checking back.

A new website by Guillaume Bourdreau makes this process a lot easier, though. It allows you to subscribe to email alerts when any refurbished Apple product you want comes back in stock, and it works even internationally. If you want a lightly used Mac for a rock bottom price, check it out!

Last-Minute Travel Deal Specialist Hotwire Launches Hotel-Focused iPad App

By

hotwire-ipad-1

Las Vegas isn’t the easiest town to get along with when something big is going down. Case in point: During CES back in January, I was shocked to see the nightly rate for my hotel room skyrocket by roughly 600 percent — pretty much matching my entire budget — during the show’s high-water mark (understandable, since the hotel was an easy stroll from the LV Convention Center, where the show squats).

I panicked for a few minutes, swore, then sat down and fired up the Hotwire app I’d just installed. Within an hour I was at the lobby of a swank joint, just off the strip, with my own suite — for a fraction of the rate of my old room (which, frankly, was a craphole).

And today’s release of the Universal Hotwire app dismisses the only real complaint I had: Having to use the iPhone-only app on my iPad.

Verizon Will Sell The iPhone 5 Later This Month For $100 Off Regular Price [Rumor]

By

verizon_iphone_black_600px

If you’re in the market for an iPhone 5, this is intriguing: Twitter user evleaks, who has good sources on upcoming Android devices and carrier deals, is saying that Verizon will start offering the iPhone 5 for $100 off starting in the middle of this month. That means that instead of paying $199 upfront for a 16GB iPhone 5 on two year contract, it would only cost $99. Not a bad deal at all, if true: we’ll let you know when and if the deal goes live.

Apple has started selling refurbished models of its latest iPod touch online. In this case, that means $50 off, which translates to a 12%-16% price cut depending on the storage size. A 32GB refurbished iPod touch costs $249 instead of the normal $299, and a 64GB model costs $349 instead of $399. A refurbished option is not available for the 16GB iPod touch, unfortunately.

Colors options are yellow, blue, pink, white, and black for each storage size. You can also get refurbished versions of the 4th-gen iPod touch (released in 2010) for considerably less.
