The Mophie 4-in-1 Wireless Charging Mat is for households with lots of devices that need power. It can handle multiple iPhones and AirPods cases simultaneously, and it designed to make correctly aligning them easy. And there’s even an option for Apple Watch.

I put this multi-device charger to the test. Here’s how it stood up to regular use.

Mophie 4-in-1 Wireless Charging Mat review

Wireless charging is much more convenient that cables. Just put your iPhone or other device down on a mat and power starts flowing. Starting with the iPhone 8, every Apple handset can do this trick. The same goes for AirPods Pro, and there’s an optional charging case for standard AirPods. Plus, the only way to juice up an Apple Watch is wireless.

That’s a lot of devices, especially in households with multiple Apple fans. Mophie has an answer. Its charging mat can take on three iPhones at once, or two iPhones and two AirPods cases that support wireless charging. Or four AirPods cases. These all fit into “valleys” designed to make aligning the charging coils in the handset and the mat a breeze.

There’s also a USB-A port for juicing up other computers, plus a holder for the standard Apple Watch Charger.

And consider, the 4-in-1 Wireless Charging Mat isn’t only for Apple devices. Many Androids can use this accessory as well.

Hardware and Design

Because the mat makes room for so many phones, etc, it’s not small. Prepare to carve out some room for it on your kitchen counter, desk, night table, etc. Specifically, the hardware is 11.1 inches by 7.25 inches.

The only color option for the 4-in-1 Wireless Charging Mat is charcoal grey fabric, so the look is functional. It might not match the decor of your kitchen.

Wireless power requires getting the handset lined up right, and it’s extremely irritating if you get up in the morning and realize your phone battery is dead became you didn’t put the device down in exactly the right spot the night before. Mophie’s super-size charging mat is divided into thirds, and each section is surrounded by a small ridge that helps center the iPhone over the charging coils. The system works well — every time I put my iPhone 12 down, it quickly starts charging.

The central section can be used to charge a handset, but it’s also divided in half to handle AirPods, or other small accessories that support wireless charging. The design is a little bit confusing, but it works. The two side sections can each handle one handset or AirPods case.

USB-A port and Apple Watch charger

Mophie built a USB-A port into the back of the 4-in-1 Wireless Charging Mat. This allows the accessory to juice up an iPad, mobile game console, or other computer via a cable.

One option is the charger that comes with an Apple Watch. And there’s dock to hold this charger up so the Watch’s screen can be seen. This feature is completely optional, though.

Wall power adapter

One of the benefits of the Mophie 4-in-1 Wireless Charging Mat is that it runs off a single wall power adapter. It’s a better solution than five separate chargers with maybe a power strip to give them all a place to plug in.

Just be aware that the power adapter is quite large. It just barely leaves room for something small to go into the second socket in a standard wall plug.

Mophie 4-in-1 Wireless Charging Mat performance

Wireless charging is very convenient, but it’s usually a bit slow. When using a standard charging mat like Mophie’s, an iPhone can receive a maximum 7.5 watts. An AirPods wireless charging case maxes out at 5 watts. The Mophie 4-in-1 Wireless Charging Mat provides up to 10 watts of power, so it’s providing all that most Apple devices can take.

In my tests, an hour of charging raised the battery level of an iPhone 12 by 31%. An increase of about 1% to battery level every 2 minutes is typical of most wireless chargers.

Just be aware that Apple introduced MagSafe with the iPhone 12 series. This increases wireless charging to 15 watts, except in iPhone 12 mini, which maxes out at 12W. This Mophie charger doesn’t use MagSafe, so it’s not the fastest option for the 2020 iPhone.

Mophie 4-in-1 Wireless Charging Mat final thoughts

Anyone looking for a single solution to easily juice up a house full of wireless devices should really consider the Mophie 4-in-1 Wireless Charging Mat. It can handle a variety of iPhones and AirPods, and even has an Apple Watch option.

But it won‘t win any beauty contests. The look is functional.

Pricing

Mophie makes top-quality gear and prices it accordingly. The suggested price for the 4-in-1 Wireless Charging Mat is $149.95. At the time of this writing, it’s available from Amazon for considerably less.

The product is also sold by Verizon, Best Buy, AT&T, T-Mobile, Target and other retailers.

Comparable products

Of course, there are rival multi-device wireless charging mats. The Courant Catch:2 is one example. It can handle just two devices, but is considerably smaller than Mophie’s offering and is covered in pebbled leather in a variety of colors. The price is $75.

Or the Liberty from Zens has a cool, high-tech look with glass top to show off the charging coils. It juices up two devices on its mat, plus there’s an optional Apple Watch charger. The glass-top version, without the Watch charger, is $199.99.

Another option for families is the Scoshe BaseLynx wireless charging system. It’s modular, allowing shoppers to buy just the components they need for their mix of phones and other computers.
