Pad & Quill’s Oxford iPad Sleeve swallows a 2018 iPad Pro and Magic keyboard

Pad & Quill’s leather Oxford iPad Sleeve is an utter bargain at its sale price of $119.95. I have owned a similar sleeve for years, one that was originally conceived to fit a MacBook, and it’s softer and more beautiful now than when I got it.

Will we be able to say the same for Apple’s $99 iPad Pro Smart Folio (for which I paid $135)? The answer is almost certainly “No.”

New Pad & Quill Oxford iPad Sleeve fits 2018 iPad Pro

The Pad & Quill Oxford iPad Sleeve is like a big leather envelope, with a stud-fastening flap and an accessory pocket that can swallow a Magic Keyboard. If lightweight minimalism is your goal when traveling, this might be the perfect iPad case for you.

The main pocket is big enough to hold a 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2018 model), either naked or in another case. And, as mentioned, the accessory pocket takes a Magic Keyboard or a charger and cables. And you can fit in any iPad or MacBook that’s a similar or smaller size than the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. That goes for future models, too.

A simple and versatile leather iPad case

Both the main section and the pocket remain accessible when the Oxford iPad Sleeve sits flat on the desk.

There’s little more to say about the case, other than that you won’t regret buying it. I’ve written about, and reviewed, P&Q cases and accessories ever since the company’s first product, a fitted, book-style case for the iPad. Every one of them has been super-well-built, and they all got better with age. The Oxford case comes with Pad & Quill’s 25-year warranty. Plus, the folks at Pad & Quill are super-nice people, so there’s that.

Studly.

At home, I prefer the absurdly overpriced Apple Smart Folio, which is slim, light and can be used as a stand — or quickly removed entirely. But on the rare occasions I venture outside, I love all-in-one cases like the Oxford iPad Sleeve. You can fill it with the accessories you need, and either tuck it under an arm or toss the whole lot into a backpack. Even if you don’t pick a Pad & Quill case, the concept is worth checking out.
