hey everyone err finalizer here with
0:01
Colton matcom in this episode of Kult of
0:04
mac TV i'm gonna be reviewing a
0:06
bluetooth headset the jawbone era
0:09
javelins newest bestest coolest little
0:13
headset this thing is feature packed
0:15
lots of stuff comes in the box too
0:17
I've been using it for a few weeks now
0:19
with my iPhone and before I talk about
0:21
things I liked and some of the things I
0:23
found that I didn't really like why
0:24
don't we jump into a quick unboxing okay
0:28
let's get this guy open I really kind of
0:30
like the packaging it's so uh it's so
0:33
elegant looking huh yes just like this
0:36
thing just slides out oh that's cool
0:39
just slides out and then you've got all
0:42
of your stuff just kind of like lined up
0:43
right in there that's actually really
0:45
neat packaging it looks like it comes
0:47
with all sorts of stuff some different
0:50
earbud options and then a little charger
0:54
right here there's a little ear hooks
0:56
gosh it seems like oh my gosh it's like
1:00
a art piece at a museum
1:02
I gotta say guys I opened up a lot of
1:07
packages the packaging on this thing is
1:09
really really really neat never had so
1:11
much problems getting something open so
1:13
oh cool
1:14
there's a little tab here just pull it
1:16
open nice so we got in here we got a
1:20
little user guide what is this thing oh
1:23
cool a little charger there's no way
1:25
once you get this packaging open you're
1:27
ever gonna get this stuff back in here
1:28
primo wow what's this oh it's a case
1:32
okay everything's labeled so you get a
1:36
little oh nice so you get like a little
1:38
little it's a little change purse for
1:41
your for your headset isn't that cute
1:43
that's it that's all that's in there and
1:45
then you get all your earpiece options
1:47
and of course the headset itself that is
1:49
really beautiful packaging kudos kudos
1:53
job ok so there's so many things that I
1:56
could talk about with this headset but
1:57
the first thing I'm going to start with
1:58
is the most important that is audio
2:01
quality the audio quality on this jaw
2:04
bone is outstanding
2:06
everyone I talked to you when I asked
2:09
them told me the audio sounded rich it
2:11
sounded good many times it sounded
2:13
the actual iPhone itself I use this
2:16
thing in all sorts of different
2:17
conditions I was walking under freeway
2:20
overpasses I was using it in the wind
2:22
and I never had a problem everyone could
2:24
always say that they could hear me well
2:26
in fact as far as filtering out noise
2:29
Javelin says they have a built-in little
2:32
technology called noise assassin 3.0 it
2:35
seems to be doing a great job at least
2:36
it did for me this is one of the best
2:39
sounding headsets I've ever used and
2:41
that is for people hearing me as far as
2:44
the audio that you hear that's a little
2:46
bit of a different story they say this
2:48
thing has HD audio built-in now I find
2:52
that when you're using it to listen to
2:53
like podcasts or music on your iPhone it
2:56
actually does sound quite good but when
2:59
I was talking to people in telephone
3:01
conversations I would notice I would
3:02
hear static I would hear little noises
3:04
like electrical noises I don't know if
3:06
it was the headset um my theory actually
3:09
is that because this thing sounds so
3:11
good it will actually make other people
3:14
who don't sound as good when they're
3:16
talking to you you'll actually hear
3:18
those audio imperfections that may be on
3:19
a lower quality speaker you may not hear
3:22
that's my theory because it sounds great
3:25
when you're listening to music I really
3:27
love the way this era is designed it's
3:29
really beautiful it's really basic and
3:32
let me see if I can bring it in here and
3:33
give you kind of a good look of its
3:36
design there we go it's just really
3:38
basic like a little grate on top it's a
3:40
really nice size I really like the shape
3:42
a lot not a whole lot going on on this
3:45
headset and those switches anywhere
3:47
there's one on and off switch right here
3:50
this little nubbin doesn't do anything
3:52
it just sits against your cheek bone and
3:53
then you have a button in the back right
3:55
there that you could use to like answer
3:57
and hang up calls and stuff and it has
3:59
some other features too and that's
4:00
pretty much it that's all it does and it
4:03
looks nice when you hang it in your ear
4:04
it goes and like really nice and smooth
4:06
and in if you're gonna look like a nerd
4:08
walking around with a headset when
4:10
you're talking this is actually a pretty
4:11
cool one I think it looks a lot better
4:13
than a lot of the other headsets that
4:15
I've used now one of the things I
4:16
thought was cool about this headset that
4:17
I haven't seen any other headsets or
4:19
motion controls if you shake this thing
4:21
four times it will put it into discovery
4:23
mode so you can pair it with your
4:24
smartphone or whatever
4:26
when you have um when is the when the
4:28
phone is ringing if you shake this thing
4:29
twice it actually picks up the phone so
4:33
so your call is activated I should say
4:35
it also has this thing called tap tap
4:37
built in and that basically means when
4:41
your phone is ringing yours you can tap
4:43
this thing twice it will pick up the
4:45
call and then you can tap it twice again
4:47
and it should hang up to be honest it's
4:50
a really cool sounding technology but I
4:52
found that it doesn't actually work all
4:54
the time many times when I tap this to
4:56
hang up it just won't hang up that
4:58
probably happened 50 or 60 percent of
5:00
the time if you shake this thing to
5:03
answer a call sometimes it works
5:05
sometimes it doesn't sometimes it thinks
5:07
you're trying to put this into discovery
5:08
mode so it would just start blinking it
5:10
won't answer the call at all they're
5:12
really cool technologies I'd like to see
5:14
them work more often than they actually
5:15
do because surprisingly they're
5:18
incredibly useful when they do work they
5:20
just don't work all the time now one of
5:21
the things I love about this headset is
5:23
the fact that you can listen to music or
5:25
any any audio from your iPod on it
5:28
that's really cool it's a technology
5:30
that's coming out and a lot of newer
5:32
headsets and it's super handy you know
5:34
you just put this thing in you can
5:35
listen to music listen to a podcast and
5:37
you still have your other ear free once
5:39
you get used to this feature it's kind
5:40
of hard to like want to use headphones
5:42
unless you're listening to music where
5:43
you actually want to hear everything
5:44
really super handy now if you use the
5:47
Bluetooth headset in the past you've
5:49
known that it's kind of weird checking
5:51
the battery life you might have to press
5:52
a button on the actual headset and
5:54
depending on how many times a light
5:55
blinks it will show you how much battery
5:57
life is left well built into the era is
6:00
a battery meter that works on your
6:03
iPhone now this isn't exclusive to the
6:04
era but it is coming out in some of the
6:07
newer nicer headsets and you can see
6:09
that there's a battery meter right there
6:12
and it shows the Bluetooth icon and then
6:14
it shows a little bar showing how much
6:16
battery life is left on your headset
6:18
this feature is extremely useful so you
6:21
always know whether or not you need to
6:22
charge your headset because you're not
6:23
going to charge it all the time but you
6:25
definitely don't want to have it run out
6:26
of battery so it's right there in your
6:28
iPhone I never - anytime you need to see
6:29
it so what's the bottom line well this
6:32
is definitely where the nicest headsets
6:33
I have ever used it's got a ton of
6:35
features it comes with a lot of great
6:36
accessories it's also one of the most
6:38
expense
6:39
have had sex I've ever used these things
6:41
are available online for about a hundred
6:42
and twenty dollars that may or may not
6:44
be worth it to you only you can decide
6:46
if you have the money
6:47
sure why not go for the best the audio
6:50
quality on this is the most important
6:51
feature to me and that's what I love
6:53
most about it people can always hear me
6:55
great you know it sounds good and no
6:58
matter where I am it's gonna eliminate
7:00
noise and they're gonna be able to hear
7:01
what I'm saying and so that's primarily
7:03
why I use it that and it's one of the
7:05
only booth Bluetooth headsets that I
7:07
have used that doesn't make you look
7:08
like a total nerd that's important to me
