16-inch MacBook Pro concept with M1X chip will make you drool

Antonio takes rumors and makes them into renders. Not pie-in-sky dreams

Concept artist Antonio De Rosa combined the leaks and rumors about the next 16-inch MacBook Pro into a collection of images of the significantly redesigned device.

This isn’t expected to be a simple speed bump. For one thing, an Apple M-series processor will almost certainly replace the Intel one in the upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro. It supposedly won’t be the same M1 chip used in the most-recent iMac and other models, but an improved version with more processor cores. De Rosa dubbed it the M1X, and hopes that no fan will be needed for it.

2021 16-inch MacBook Pro could be a game changer

The 2021 notebook will allegedly include a built-in SD card reader and an HDMI port. And a MagSafe charger. But no LED Touch Bar. All of these changes are reflected in the new concept images.

Rumors point to this being one of the first macOS computers with a mini-LED display, and De Rosa includes this in his concept design. But Apple’s difficulties sourcing this new type of screen have raised doubts.

The proposed MacBook Pro also has Face ID, something Apple is undoubtedly exploring. Plus, the just-launched iMac comes in a range of colors, and the artist reflected this in the upcoming Mac notebook.

Visit De Rosa’s website to see how the new ports and other changes might look in real life. He created concept images from many angles, and put them on pages simulating the Apple website for a complete experience.

It might be time for professional MacBooks to come in colors, too.

Those eager for the real thing might not have to wait long. Several unconfirmed reports say a 16-inch MacBook Pro revamped for 2021 will debut this summer. It could be as early as the the WWDC keynote on June 7.

Apple might launch a smaller version at the same time. Concept artist Ian Zelbo created images of the 2021 14-inch MacBook Pro.
