Plenty of games drop players into an arena to battle friends or rivals over the internet, but Butter Royale takes a much lighter tone than most. It’s a food fight, not a desperate struggle for survival.
This game for players age 9 and up debuted today on Apple Arcade.
Mighty Bear Games promises players will “Have the food fight of your life in Butter Royale, a multiplayer battle royale game, and be the last one standing on Butter Island.“
This game isn’t about machine guns. Sticking with the food-fight theme, weapons include the Breadzooka. And these make squishy food noises when used, not explosions.
The game lets up to 32 players battle at once, with teams of up to four. Or go solo. Play locally or over the internet.
Butter Royale is playable on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. Use a touchscreen or an external controller, like the Rotor Riot Wired Controller. Some Xbox and PS4 ones are also supported.
This is the first contribution by Mighty Bear Games to the iOS App Store.
Available now on Apple Arcade
Butter Royale debuted this morning, but the only way to play is with a $4.99-a-month subscription to Apple Arcade. This fee also brings access to over 100 other games, all of which can be played on a variety of Apple devices.
Plus, this gaming service forbids ads, loot boxes, in-app purchases, chats and tracking. The only cost is the monthly fee.
Other recent titles suitable for younger players include Kings of the Castle and Steven Universe: Unleash the Light.
