Following its absence during 2010, Apple could be set to launch another round of the developer “Tech Tour World Tour” later this year to coincide with the release of iOS 5 and iCloud.
According to Japanese blog Macotakara, the “iOS Tech Tour World Tour” will be held later this year and will be focused on familiarising developers with the new features of iOS 5 and iCloud — which are set to launch this fall.
Apple’s iPhone Tech Talk World Tour began in 2008 and was repeated again a year later in 2009, travelling around North America, Europe, India, and Asia Pacific. They events are described by AppleInsider as “mini-Worldwide Developer Conferences” that feature sessions and presentations for developers. But for unknown reasons, none were held during 2010.
This year’s events, according to Macotakara, will be larger than the previous two tours and will have additional seating for students.
Any guesses as to why Apple didn’t hold them last year? Maybe it was because WWDC was devoted exclusively to iOS, so the Tech Talk World Tour wasn’t as necessary. Thoughts?
