It’s the weekend, which means that it’s time to relax, kick off your shoes, and download some great apps. And, man, have we got some picks for you this week!

Check below for our list of the best of the apps of the past 7 days, which demand a place on your Apple device right this moment:

Final Fantasy VII

I love seeing brand new games on iOS, but there’s something amazing about having the games of your youth available to play on a device that is smaller and more powerful than anything you could possibly have imagined back in 1998.

Of all those games, one of my absolute favorites was Square Enix’s RPG masterpiece Final Fantasy VII, which this week landed on iOS in its full original form.

Okay, so the $15.99 and requirement of 4GB of available space on your iPhone or iPad makes this a bit more of an epic decision than downloading the latest freemium Angry Birds game, but then again everything about Final Fantasy VII is epic.

For anyone who even remotely loves RPGs, this title should be a must have. Although, be warned: once you start playing, you’re unlikely to have time for anything else on this list.

Cost: $15.99

VHS Camcorder

iPhone cameras have been getting better and better to the point where they can now be used to shoot Hollywood movies and Presidential functions.

Which is why it’s hilarious that people are now keen to recreate the washed-out VHS tape appearance we all complained about having to endure back in the camcorder days of the 1980s.

The aptly-named VHS Camcorder app does exactly what it says on the tin: giving your iPhone movies the look and sound of a degraded VHS tape. You can even add the time and date (vintage, of course) for that added bit of authenticity.

Want to trick your friends into thinking you’re a vampire who hasn’t changed in the last 30 years? You’ve, err, come to the right place.

iTranslate has been one of our favorite translation apps here at Cult of Mac since day one, but its latest update makes it better than ever. iTranslate’s brand-new keyboard extension allows users to translate into more than 90 languages using any app.

That means that answering an email in Chinese, chatting with a girl in Spanish over WhatsApp, or even tweeting in French to dazzle your Twitter followers is not only possible — but you won’t have to switch between applications to do it.

Seriously, why haven’t you downloaded this already?

Square Cash

A recent study claims that 80 percent of Apple Watch owners have used Apple Pay, which probably means that this next app will be of interest to the wearable users out there.

Square Cash has been around for a while, but its new Apple Watch accessibility means that you can now easily send cash transactions to friends using nothing more than your Apple Watch (and, well, your money, too.)

There are no charges involved, so all you need to do is link your debit card to the Square Cash app, and then transfer cash as required. As Square Cash’s creators note, “What could be easier than handing your friend the $10 you owe him than just sending it from your wrist?”

What indeed?

Apocalypse Meow: Save the Last Humans

A purr-fecf game?
A purr-fecf space shooter?

Honestly, with a name like Apocalypse Meow deserves a download just out of respect, particularly given that it’s free.

But it’s actually a great game, too — with a top-down space shooter in which you battle enemy ships and blast asteroids, while gradually upgrading your vessel. This en-tails (cat puns!) a few in-app purchases, but they’re not forced on you and they do have a profound impact on the gameplay.

Oh, and the boss battles are awesome!
